Hoover vs Bissell – Comparison Review
We all love robot vacuum cleaners and the way they handle dirt regardless of the type of surface. However, if you have heavy shedding pets and high pile carpets, you will be required to use a more powerful vacuum cleaner.
That brings us to the topic of the day, what’s the best carpet and pet vacuum brand? Is it Bissel or Hoover?
Hoover – the Most Popular Robot Vacuum Brands
You will agree with me that Hoover is among the most popular robot vacuum brands in the world. No conversation around vacuum cleaners ends without the mention of Hoover.
Here are the top 5 Hoover carpet cleaners in the market.
You can use it for vacuuming the floor and carpets as well as upholstery. The vacuum comes with a SpinScrub hand tool to help you vacuum all the hard to reach places; from the stairs to the furniture.
Under the hood, the vacuum packs a 12-Amp motor with 3-speeds and a 20 feet cord.
We also liked the SmartTank system which has two tanks for clean and dirty water. Other worthy features include an automatic detergent mixing system.
Remember, the detergent ratio is very important lest you damage your carpet fabric or delicate hardwood floor finish.
But there are a few things we didn’t like about the Hoover Max Extract. First, it is not suitable for the daily cleaner. The
and the components are quite weak and would break easily. Also, there were leaks around the clean water tank to shampoo connections as well as the nozzles.
Retailing at under $100, Hoover PowerDash will vacuum all dirt including pet hair from the floor and carpets.
The design is very compact, but then, it doesn’t compromise on performance. The vacuum packs quite some great power and a range of top class features.
One of the best features of this cheap carpet cleaner is the PowerSpin Pet Brush Roll that tackles dirt on carpets as well as stains.
The suction power has also been boosted and offers more than you’d have expected from such a cheap and compact vacuum. The 2X more vacuum power also gives it the edge when it comes to picking up the stubborn dirt that hides deep in the carpet pile.
But for this model, the HeatForce technology greatly disappoint. It doesn’t guarantee fast drying as promised. Another thing, it is suitable for small apartments only. If you have a large area to clean, it will really take a long time.
If you have small to medium sized surfaces to vacuum, this model will be great. It is also pocket-friendly and is another great carpet vacuum under $100.
There are two things I like about this Hoover carpet vacuum.
First, it is very affordable and doesn’t choke power and performance. The other thing is the ergonomic design that makes it easy to vacuum those hard to reach areas.
The power cord is 20ft and comes with several attachments including a SpinScrub power hand tool, stair tool, crevice tool, and upholstery tool.
I really won’t praise the vacuum power as it is a light duty cleaner. However, the DualV nozzle applies equal suction leaving your carpet in even condition.
My only problem with this vacuum is the leaking nozzles and rather weak plastic components, especially the brush.
It comes with quite some great performance and raw power without hurting your budget.
One of the unique offerings of this vacuum is the CleanSurge feature that squirts the detergent on stains automatically.
Hoover SteamVac boasts all the features you’d desire in a domestic carpet and pet hair vacuum.
It is powered by a 12 Amp motor that runs the 3-speed brushroll.
The model also comes with a SmartTank system, with two separate tanks; one for clean water and the other for dirty water. A power hand tool is also included in the package and is connected to an 8-foot hose.
For this model, there are two aspects of it we didn’t like.
First, the CleanSurge technology is also not as efficient and hyped. It’s also ideal for small apartments only.
If you want the latest model from Hoover, get the PowerScrub Elite. It is just the same as PowerScrub Deluxe, but this one has been specially designed for pets courtesy of the additional antimicrobial features.
So, if you have carpets and pets, this is your perfect model.
It is a high-end carpet cleaner worth buying due to its features it comes with. It allows you to deep clean your carpet with soap and water. Its rinse mode enables you to rinse your carpet with water and remove all the dirt and soap.
It also comes with an antimicrobial SpinScrub Brush which helps in removing bacteria and odor from your pet making sure your carpet is not only clean but also bacteria free.
After washing, you need not worry about drying your carpet since it comes with HeatForce which will dry the carpet or rug in just 45 minutes..
On the downside, Hoover Power Scrub Elite leaks from the back where the reservoir meets the body. Also, its spinning brush is weak, so it is not as durable.
If you are looking for the perfect tool for cleaning pet hair and stains on floors and carpets, then you have the perfect product in DeepClean Deluxe.
Even though it is not the cheapest model available, we like its excellent performance on low-pile to high-pile carpets.
Besides the shampooer, I like the way it handles stains on carpets. You understand how hard it is to clean wine stains from carpets.
The heating technology is very effective and warms the water throughout making sure that all germs and stains are removed. If you have small kids crawling on the floors, then this is a feature you don’t want to miss out on.
The DirtLifter brush with 12 rows is very gentle on the carpet fabric but unforgiving to dirt and stains.
On the downside, I find this vacuum quite heavy. For me, I’m well built so lifting it isn’t a problem. But for the average housewife, it will be frustrating especially when going upstairs with it.
Among the unique features, this pet vacuum comes with is a pet hair collection bin.
It filters the tiny pet hair before they get to the water tank.
On the other hand; the deep reach pet tool ensures the tough stains from pet waste are all cleared.
The Bissell 17N4 is among the most affordable pet vacuums with a plethora of features and functions. It will clean all the pet hair on carpets, including the stains. It will also clear the bad odor that emanates from pet urine as well as the skin flakes and dander.
One of the shortcomings of the DeepClean Premier is the bulkiness. At 30 lbs., it is quite heavy for the daily housewife or the senior citizens. But considering the output, this is no surprise. It’s also a little bit noisier compared to the other models because of the extra power it delivers.
Also, Bissell 47A23 is ideal for cleaning carpet with pet dirt and waste. As the name suggests, it comes with a waterwave technology which is a constant heat supply that helps in maintaining water temperature while cleaning.
Bissell 47A23 also comes with a 10-row dual DirtLifter PowerBrush which easily loosens and removes dirt from your carpet.
It also has a large 2-in-1 tank which helps in saving time since you will need to fill and empty the tank fewer times during the cleaning process. After cleaning an area, Bissell ProHeat does a wonderful job in drying the dampness from the carpet.
One thing I did not like about this carpet cleaner is that it doesn’t have flow indicator to signal you that the water tank is about to run dry. You have to check for water level manually.
It comes with Professional Pet Urine Eliminator + Oxy Formula which works excellently removes the stubborn pet odors and stains.
This vacuum carpet cleaner has CleanShot PreTreater which is responsible for excellently removing pet odors spots and stains.
It also comes with an express clean mode which cleans very well without employing a lot of water. This factor helps the carpet to dry after a very short time together with the help of surround suction since its main function is to dry excess water from the carpet.
With Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet, I did not like how its brushes fill up with carpet fiber, and I had to clean them continuously. This makes cleaning your carpet hectic since you have to stop cleaning and attend to the dirty brushes.
This Bissell carpet cleaner, also known as Bissell 24A4 is a very powerful pet and carpet vacuum. This is by the fact that it comes with dual DirtLifter PowerBrushes which cleans your carpet thoroughly removing deep dirt out of the carpet.
Another important feature is the portable spot cleaner which you can detach from the rest of machine and clean hard to reach areas or even when you do not want to push the whole machine.
Bissell 24A4 also has a removable nozzle which you can remove and clean it after you are done with your days cleaning. This makes it easy to maintain it.
The downside of this Bissell 24A4 vacuum is that it is heavy.
Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution vs. Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe vs. PowerScrub Elite Face To Face Comparison
In this segment, we want to compare three popular Bissell and Hoover models.
The three are Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution, Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe and Hoover PowerScrub Elite.
To help you get the most out of the comparison review, we are going to compare the crucial features and aspects that ring in your mind when buying a carpet and pet vacuum.
The first thing you should look out for when buying a carpet and pet vacuum cleaner is the design.
The vacuums we have discussed in this article are all upright vacuums. The advantage of these vacuums is that they are easy to use and won’t break your back.
However, there’s one thing you need to consider carefully; the weight and handling.
These vacuums range from 20 – 30 lbs. so make sure you pick one that you are comfortable with.
Also, check out for features like ergonomic handles to help you carry the vacuum easily.
Other features to consider include the tank, cord length, durability and so on.
So, how do Bissell ProHeat 2X, Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe, and Hoover PowerScrub Elite compare when it comes to design?
Bissell has three types of vacuum cleaner for carpets while Hoover has only the upright vacuums. Here, the three vacuums are all upright carpet and pet vacuums.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Dimensions and weight
If you are looking for something light, then get Hoover because it is lighter and more portable. Fortunately for Bissell, it has plenty of attachments to help you vacuum those areas where the main unit can’t reach.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Cleaning path width
The Deluxe model has a slightly lesser width; 11.25 inches.
Even though the difference is negligible, a wide cleaning path is the most desirable for maximum efficiency.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Tank
Comes with a 2-in-1 water tank, both with a 1-gallon capacity.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Cord length
Has a 20-foot cord and an 8-foot hand tool.
Obviously, the ProHeat 2X is the winner for having a longer power cord.
The other important thing when shopping for a carpet and pet vacuum is the performance. Here, you should evaluate what vacuum will best suit your cleaning needs. Not every other vacuum will clean your carpet and pet messes efficiently.
When it comes to performance, there are several aspects that you should individually consider. This is because the cleaning performance of vacuum cleaners depends on the collaboration of several parts and stages.
That said, it’s important to know the essential components and the functionality.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Brush system
For Hoover, we have the revolutionary SpinScrub brush system. Mind you; the two Hoover vacuums also have a different approach in the structure and function of the SpinScrub brush. The Deluxe version comes with basic SpinScrub brushes.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Motor and vacuum power
Hoover comes with 10 amps motors.
That gives the Deluxe and Elite models the edge when it comes to vacuum power. But the advantage of Bissell is that its operation noise is lower. Go for Hoover Deluxe if you have a carpet and Hoover Elite if you have pets.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Heating
When it comes to Hoover, the Deluxe also have a heating technology that works the same as HeatWave technology.
For some reason, Bissell’s heating system works consistently compared to Hoover, so it’s the best choice.
Accessories and attachments
For example, if you buy one with a powered hand tool, you can easily vacuum upholstery and other tight spots without any hassle. When looking at the accessories and attachments, we are looking at extras like stain removal tools, upholstery tools, pet hair collectors, and so on.
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe – Accessories and attachments
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe comes with a SpinScrub hand tool, crevice tool, stair tool, and upholstery tool.
Bissell ProHeat and Hoover PowerScrub are designed for different purpose that’s why they come with different accessories and attachments. That said, the most important thing is to know what the best model is, for what cleaning needs.
Cost and value for money
One last important aspect I want us to talk about is cost and value for money.
When buying anything, you must first do some window shopping at least to have a clue of what kind of budget you need.
The other thing you should consider is value for money. Here, you should weigh between the price and what the vacuum offers. One thing I want you to note is that in most cases, performance is proportional to price so expect to pay more for a vacuum that has more features and extras.
So, which of the three carpet cleaners in this comparison is the best value for money?
Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe
If you want something cheaper, then settle for the PowerScrub Deluxe that goes for $125.
Our Verdict: Bissell ProHeat vs. Hoover PowerScrub
Having looked at how the three vacuums compare, it’s time we give our verdict on what’s the best vacuum in the Hoover PowerScrubvs Bissell ProHeat battle.
But there are two models so once again, you have a dilemma in the Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe vs. PowerScrub Elite. Well, PowerScrub Elite is the latest model and is basically an upgrade of the Deluxe Series. Even though it’s price is a little bit higher, it is the best model, especially if you have pets.
There you have it, a Bissell vs. Hoover comparison review. Indeed, these two brands are the best in the game and if you want value for money, never look further.
But the most important thing is to evaluate your needs and make sure that the particular model you are buying fits your cleaning needs satisfactorily.
