3 Reasons to Choose the Deebot T8

  • Three suction levels: Deebot T8 has three suction levels – Standard, Max, and Max+ (maximum suction 1.600Pa).
  • Compatible with OZMO Auto-empty station: The built-in 0.42 L dustbin can be automatically emptied in a 2.5L Auto-Empty station (purchased separately), keeping dust for up to one month.
  • Exceptional runtime: The battery with a capacity of 5200 mAh has been optimized to run 180 minutes in Standard mode and 110-120 minutes in Max mode.

Deebot N8 vs T8 Face-to-Face-Comparison Review

Now, onto the main business of the day, how does the Deebot N8 compare to the Deebot T8? We will put these two vacuums in a face-to-face comparison, analyzing all the important factors buyers should consider when shopping for the best robot vacuum.

These include the robot’s design, cleaning orientation and performance, battery and power management, navigation and mapping system, and, lastly, smart features and convenience. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

1. Design and Aesthetics

Design Deebot T8 and Deebot N8
When choosing a robot vacuum, your wish list should have a model with a low profile design to allow the robot vacuum to get under low profile furniture and between tight spaces. When it comes to aesthetics, get a robot vacuum that appeals to your eye. It is also vital if you can identify the different robot vacuums based on their appearance.

So, how does the Deebot T8 compare to the new Deebot N8?

Deebot N8 Design and Aesthetics

The Deebot N8 is quite similar to the T8 in terms of dimensions and weight. Here again, ECOVACS designed a low-profile robot vacuum that can creep under low-profile furniture such as sofas, beds, and couches. The robot vacuum measures 13 x 13 x 3.1-inches and weighs just 8.2 pounds.

Regarding the finish, the Deebot N8 Pro and N8 Pro+ are both black. There is a single power button on the top interface, a raised turret that houses the navigation system, and the Deebot logo at the bottom.

2. Cleaning Performance

The most important consideration when choosing any vacuum is the cleaning performance: Deebot is not an exception. In this section, we will analyze all the critical aspects that determine the cleaning performance of robot vacuums. Importantly, we will be sharing the results of our exclusive cleaning tests.

(a) Cleaning Orientation

There are different types of floor robot cleaners. Some models vacuum only, while others integrate robot vacuums with mops. Besides, these little helpers are highly specialized. You will find robot vacuums for bare floors, bot cleaners for carpets, pet hair, large apartments, high traffic rooms, etc.

Make sure the particular model you are buying is suited for your immediate cleaning needs. In this segment, find out what the two Deebots are designed for.

What is the Deebot N8 Designed For?

Deebot N8 2-in-1 cleaning
The new Deebot N8 Pro and N8 Pro+ are also 2-in-1 robot vacuums that will vacuum and mop simultaneously. As for its specialization, the N8 offers excellent vacuuming on all types of bare floors, be it hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile, marble, or concrete. One great thing about the N8 is the satisfactory performance on all types of carpets.

While the T8 is best suited for low to medium pile carpets only, the N8 can effectively vacuum low, medium, and high pile carpets, and rugs. This vacuum also does well in homes with pets. As for the apartment size and traffic, the advanced navigation system makes it best for small to large apartments with multi rooms and high traffic.

(b) Suction Power

Whether it’s a canister, upright vacuum, stick vacuum, handheld, or robotic vacuum, suction power plays a crucial role in the overall cleaning performance. A good robot vacuum should have high suction power and adjustable suction levels for customized cleaning and power management.

In this section, find out which is the most powerful ECOVACS vacuum between Deebot T8 vs. N8.

Suction Power Deebot N8
On the other hand, the newer Deebot N8 Comes with an all-new fan motor that delivers exceptional suction power. When the max mode is activated, it puts up a whopping 2,600pa. For the record, the N8 has three suction levels (Standard, Max, Max+) that can be adjusted manually or automatically when the robot detects carpets. Interestingly, this motor has been designed for quiet operation. So you can vacuum at night without much disturbance.

(c) Brush System

Brush System Deebot N8While suction power is important, the brush system also plays a major role – agitation. A good robot vacuum should have a wide tangle-free brush and side sweeping brushes for the deep corners and wall edges.

So, how do the brush systems of the T8 and the N8 compare?

  • The Deebot T8 features a standard main brush that tends to get tangled when handling the long stubborn dog hair. But when it comes to carpets and bare floors, it agitates stuck-on dirt and lifts all the dirt swiftly. There are two side sweeping brushes at the sides that tackle dust and dirt along the wall edges and the deep corners for a thorough clean. To guarantee maximum contact, the T8 has a self-adjusting cleaning head.
  • On the other hand, the Deebot N8 comes with a revamped dual bristle and rubberized paddle spiral brushroll that agitates dirt on bare floors and carpets effectively. However, long dog hair is still a headache. On the sides, ECOVACS maintained the two side sweeping brushes for the wall edges and corners. Just like the T8, the N8 has a self-adjusting cleaning head that lowers when on bare floors and rises on carpets for maximum contact when vacuuming.

(d) Filtration

Robot vacuums don’t just sweep and vacuum; they also purify the atmosphere by capturing all contaminants that trigger allergies or cause a foul odor. This section will analyze the filtration system of the two ECOVACS robot vacuums in this Deebot N8 vs. T8 comparison review. Find out which is the best deal for homes with allergy sufferers and pets.

Filtration Deebot N8
The Deebot N8 also comes with a 3-layer filtration system that uses high-efficiency filters which capture 99% of dust, pet-related dander, pollen, and other allergens. Unlike the T8 that filters down to 0.6 microns, this one goes an extra mile to filter down microparticles as small as 0.25 microns. This makes the N8 the best for home with allergy sufferers. The N8 also comes with an allergen-seal system that prevents captured allergens from sneaking back into the atmosphere.

(e) Bin System

Robot vacuums come with onboard bins where the lifted dirt is sucked into. A good robot vacuum should come with a large capacity dustbox to reduce the frequency of emptying. It should also offer easy detachability for effortless maintenance. What’s more?

The latest robot vacuums come with automatic self-emptying, making their operation autonomous for a few weeks. In this segment, we want to determine the capacity of the onboard dust boxes of the T8 and N8, and importantly, whether these models support automatic self-emptying.

Bin System Deebot T8
When it comes to the Deebot N8, there is not much difference as this robot vacuum also features a washable 0.42L bin as the onboard bin. Now that it’s one of the latest models, it also supports automatic self-emptying technology. But here comes the difference. The Deebot N8 Pro doesn’t come with the ECOVACS Auto-Empty Station, but it is compatible with the technology. On the other hand, the N8 Pro+ comes with the Auto-Empty Station included.

(e) Mopping Performance

Mopping Performance Deebots
As mentioned earlier, these two robot vacuums offer simultaneous vacuuming and mopping. In this section, we have discussed all the mopping features that they come with. Find out if there are any differences between the two Deebot robot vacuums.

  • The Deebot T8 offers both dry and wet mopping. It comes with removable mopping pads attached underneath the robot vacuum. One great feature of the T8 is its compatibility with the OZMO Pro oscillating scrubbing mop (purchased separately) for effective mopping, even when dealing with stuck-on stains and grime. The T8 features OZMO mopping technology and adjustable water levels for the best mopping experience. The tank has a 0.24L capacity that enables it to cover up to 2000 square feet. For homes with carpets, the Carpet Detection feature ensures that carpets remain dry.
  • The new Deebot N8 also offers dry and wet mopping. There are removable mops attached under the robot. The N8 deploys OZMO moping technology for efficient water usage and effective mopping. It also has Carpet Detection technology and a 0.24L water tank with adjustable water levels.

(f) Cleaning Test Results

Now that we have exhausted everything regarding the cleaning components of the Deebot N8 and T8, it’s time to share our exclusive cleaning test results. As is the norm, we test all the robot vacuums we review in a real household setting to give our readers a glimpse of their actual performance.

We tried the N8 and T8 on bare floors, and carpets examining the vacuuming and mopping performance. Some of the dirt we used include sugar, flour, rice, cheerios, kitty litter, sand pebbles, urine stains, margarine stains, and porridge stains. Below are illustrations of their performance.

3. Battery and Runtime

Robot vacuums are cordless, meaning they rely on inbuilt batteries to power all operations. When choosing the best robot vacuum, make sure to go for a model with a high-capacity battery. A bigger battery translates to longer runtime and a more extensive cleaning area.

Besides capacity and runtime, check out the power management options such as auto-recharging and auto-resume functions. So, how does the T8’s battery compare to that of the N8?

Runtime Deebot N8
The Deebot N8 Pro and N8 Pro+ are not as good as what you get with the T8. Here, ECOVACS stepped down power performance by equipping the N8 series robot vacuums with a 3,200mAh lithium-ion battery. It offers a 110 minutes average runtime in Standard mode.

The runtime dips proportionately as you step up the suction levels. While the battery capacity is lower, the T8 recharges automatically once the power levels go low. It will also resume cleaning automatically so you can be sure that the job will always get done!

4. Navigation and Mapping

Deebot N8 Navigation
The cleaning performance and runtime of robot vacuums are critical when choosing the best robot vacuum, and so is the navigation and mapping system. The navigation system of a robot vacuum ensures that it detects and avoids obstacles and falls.

On the other hand, the mapping system is an intelligent system that scans and maps your floor area and plans for efficient cleaning routes. Today, the features of robot vacuum mapping systems are vast.

In this segment, let’s find out which of the two ECOVACS vacuums have the best navigation and mapping system.

Deebot N8 Navigation

The Deebot N8 Pro and N8 Pro+ also come with the new ECOVACS navigation system dubbed TrueDetect 3D Technology that detects all kinds of obstacles with high precision, thus preventing accidents.

There are also cliff detection sensors to enable the robot vacuums to avoid falls off the stairs. If you have a high-traffic home, the N8 is a great deal, just like the T8.

Deebot T8 Mapping

Deebot N8 Mapping and Containment

Regarding the floor mapping system, the Deebot N8 shares several features with the T8, but this new model has extras. You still get TrueMapping technology that uses aerospace-standard detection technology to scan and map your floor area with 2X coverage and 4x accuracy. This enables the robot vacuum to use a systematic cleaning pattern to guarantee entire level cleaning and, importantly, efficiency.

One of the additions to this new model is the upgraded customized cleaning options. You can now divide or merge areas, label each room, and assign different cleaning settings to your rooms depending on how dirty they are. The N8 will also create and store multiple maps. The robot also comes with virtual boundaries known as No-Go Zones.

5. Smart Features and Convenience

In this last segment of this Deebot N8 vs. T8 comparison review, let’s find out whether there is a better model when it comes to smart features and convenience.

Smart Features Deebot N8
The Deebot N8 is not in any way different from the T8 in terms of smart features and convenience. This robot vacuum allows for automation via the mobile app and is smart home ready.

Courtesy of the 2.4GHz WiFi compatibility, and the mobile app, you get access to all controls so you can operate the robot even while you’re away.

Besides app operation, the N8 allows for smart home integration via voice assistants such as Alexa and Assistant.

Why Buy the Deebot T8?

The Deebot T8 is an excellent purchase for those looking for a mid-budget robot vacuum. The robot offers 2-in-1 cleaning and does a great job on bare floors and homes with pets. It also provides excellent runtime – 180 minutes, to be precise. What’s more?

The T8 shares the same navigation and mapping features as the newer N8, and will also empty itself automatically if you purchase the ECOVACS Auto-Empty Station. But then, this robot vacuum is not the best for carpets because of average suction. It delivers a maximum of 1,600 Pa.

Why Buy the Deebot N8 Pro+?

The Deebot N8 Pro and Pro+ are great purchases because they offer 2-in-1 cleaning and support automatic self-emptying. For the record, the Deebot Pro+ is the ultimate option as it comes with the Auto-Empty Station included in the purchase. Another reason why the N8 is a better option is the excellent carpet vacuuming.

While the T8 and N8 will handle bare floors and pet messes satisfactorily, the N8 is a better carpet vacuum. It comes with a powerful motor that delivers a whopping 2,600pa, which is more than enough to flush out dirt and dust from the deepest parts of the carpet fabric. It also has a better filtration system that filters down to 0.25 microns while the T8 filters down to 0.6 microns.

Lastly, the Deebot N8 has upgraded cleaning customization giving homeowners more control over their cleaning. The only shortcoming of the N8 is the shorter runtime. It offers a maximum runtime of 110 minutes, while the T8 can do a cool 180 minutes.

The T8 only has 2 maps. If you have 3 floors, you are out of luck.

It very easily confuse itself which floor it is at. If you move the charging station by a feet, it totally gets lost.

The cleaning power on T8 is really good and is quiet compared to the iRobot models. I am yet to test drive the N8 as it seems cheaper compared to the T8.

Kimberly R

I want to buy my first robot vacuum cleaner. I am wondering if Deebot N8 is a good choice, or should I check Roomba or Shark models?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for your question. I definitely can recommend Deebot N8 as this 2-in-1 cleaner – mopping and vacuuming at the same time. It has powerful suction with 2600 Pa, can mop and vacuum at the same time all types of hard floor, vacuum all types of carpets. The advanced navigation and mapping system allows to create maps automatically for multi-stores and to set no-mop and no-go zones. The easy control function is executed via a smartphone application or Smart Home Assistants. So you do not need to worry about clean floors with Deebot N8.

Ashwini P K

How better is deebot compared to roomba?
And should I go for N8 or T8 for mosaic floor sweep and mopping

Andry Sullivan

Comparing Deebot and Roomba is a matter of personal preference and depends on individual needs and preferences. Both brands offer high-performing robotic vacuums with a range of features, and choosing between them will depend on factors such as price, suction power, navigation, and other features.

In terms of Deebot vs Roomba, both brands offer strong suction power and advanced navigation, but Deebot vacuums tend to be less expensive than Roomba models. On the other hand, Roomba has a wider range of features and models to choose from, including models with built-in mopping capabilities.

Regarding the Deebot N8 vs T8, both are high-performing robotic vacuums that are capable of sweeping and mopping. The N8 is a more basic model with basic mopping capabilities, while the T8 offers more advanced mopping features, including a larger water tank and precision mopping technology. If you have a mosaic floor that requires more thorough mopping, the T8 may be a better choice for you.

Ken S

As I understand, suction power is the main characteristic of a vacuum cleaner. Does it mean that I should buy a Deebot N8 with 2600 Pa, as it is much better than the 1500 Pa of Deboot T8?

Richard Harrison

Thank you for your question. Suction power is a crucial parameter for all vacuum cleaners. Therefore, 2000 Pa of suction power and higher is considered the best value. But other characteristics such as available modes of suction, types of brushes, size of a dustbin, and battery life navigation technology still are essential. So, even though Deebot T8 has only 1500 Pa of suction power, it shows good test cleaning results. But for sure, Deebot N8 is even better.

candt

Are the brushes and pad interchangeable on the the vacuums, T8, N8, and N8+?

Richard Harrison

Yes, the brushes are interchangeable on the T8 and N8 vacuums, while the filter pads are interchangeable on all three models (T8, N8, and N8+)

Howe

What are the benefits of an Auto-Empty Station that is so expensive and should be bought separately? I really doubt that the dustbin is worth this money.

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for your question. Deebot T8 and Deebot N8 have a 0.42 L dustbin, while Auto-Empty Station has a 2.5 L bin. That means it requires less frequent emptying and cleaning. As auto-cleaning of the robot dustbin works only with Auto-Empty station, that means after each cleaning, you need to clean it manually without it for the subsequent effective cleaning. With the Auto-Empty station, you can forget about dustbin cleaning for a month.
