This is an upgraded model of the original SpinWave and retains most of the standard features. The difference between Bissell SpinWave and SpinWave Plus mops, however, is that the Plus model has improved the mopping experience courtesy of extra accessories and cleaning solutions, as well as a more refined design.

This model is ideal for all hard floors, just like the predecessor. It also works with several cleaning solutions that are classified depending on the surface, just like SpinWave.

Bissell SpinWave Cordless 23159

Bissell SpinWave Cordless 23159
View on Amazon

The Bissell SpinWave Cordless is also available as Bissell SpinWave 2307, 2315 or 23158, and as the name suggests, this is a corded mop, unlike the SpinWave and SpinWave Plus, which are corded. If you want unrestricted mopping, this model offers cordless freedom to clean more areas in your home.

Despite being cordless, the SpinWave 23159 offers the same cleaning performance as its corded counterparts. You can rely on it to clean all hard floor surfaces.

Bissell SpinWave Cordless 23159 vs. SpinWave 2039A vs. SpinWave Plus 20391

In this segment, we have compared the three Bissell mops using the common factors that buyers consider when choosing the best mop as the standard. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

Design and Aesthetics

How can you tell the difference between these three mops from their appearance? What are the dimensions and weight?

Bissell SpinWave

Bissell SpinWave 2039A
Bissell SpinWave boasts a compact and sleek upright design and has been finished in white with chacha lime accents. When fully assembled, SpinWave measures 8 x 16 x 45 inches and weighs 9.5lbs.

This compact and lightweight design plus the carry handle make it easy for users to move it from one spot to another.

SpinWave Plus

Bissell SpinWave Plus 20391
The SpinWave Plus is not in any way different from the SpinWave in terms of design and aesthetics. It’s the same upright mop but this time with a silver/black finish with metallic blue accents.

Regarding the dimensions and weight, SpinWave Plus is also 16 x 8 x 45 inches and weighs 9.5lbs. It also features a carrying handle for easy portability.

Bissell SpinWave Cordless

Bissell SpinWave Cordless 23159
Last is the Bissell SpinWave Cordless, which is quite similar to the other two corded mops, but then, it’s bulkier because of the battery pack.

It measures 8 x 16 x 45 inches but weighs 11 pounds. This model also comes with the carry handle for portability.

Accessories

Thye Bissell SpinWave, SpinWave Plus, and SpinWave Cordless are similar in design and mopping performance. But one thing that differentiates most variants is the accessories included. In this segment, check out what is supplied with these SpinWave models.

SpinWave Cordless

Bissell SpinWave 2039A Accessories

Bissell SpinWave

Bissell SpinWave Plus 20391 Accessories
Bissell SpinWave is not in any way different from the SpinWave Cordless. It also features two scrubby, two soft mop pads, and two trial-size Multi-Surface Formula Bissell 2 trial-size Multi-Surface Formula.

Bissell SpinWave Cordless

Bissell SpinWave 2039A Accessories
Last is SpinWave Plus, and this is the value pack as it tags along with more accessories. This package tags along with two scrubby and four soft mop pads, two trial-size Multi-Surface Formula, and two trial-size Wood Floor Formula.

Mopping Features

Bissell SpinWave mops guarantee the same level of cleaning as hands & knees scrubbing. In this section, we have dissected the three SpinWave mops to find out how they work.

Bissell SpinWave

Bissell SpinWave 2039A Mopping Features
Bissell SpinWave relies on a pair of counter-rotating microfiber pads housed in a 14-inch cleaning head. They agitate stuck-on dirt and wipe out stains and grimes on sealed floors.

The scrubby mop pads are the most ideal for tough stains but on delicate floors, use the soft touchpads. For the record, you can use a wide range of cleaning solutions with this mop.

SpinWave Plus

Bissell SpinWave Plus 20391 Mopping Features
Bissell SpinWave Plus offers the same level of mopping efficiency as its older brother. The only difference between SpinWave vs SpinWave Plus is that you get more value for money in terms of the parts and accessories.

The Plus model comes with four soft mop pads and two trial-size Wood Floor Formula extra. But the unit still relies on the two counter-rotating pads and uses both the scrubby mop pads and soft touchpads.

Bissell SpinWave Cordless

Bissell SpinWave Cordless 20391 Mopping Features
Last is the SpinWave Cordless, and this one offers the same mopping performance as the other two SpinWave mops. It uses a dual counter-rotating brush and mopping fibers for both stains and grime as well as delicate floors.

The big difference here is that while the other two SpinWave models, SpinWave 20391 and 2039A, offer continuous operation, the SpinWave Cordless offers just 20 minutes runtime courtesy of the 18V rechargeable battery pack.

Mopping Test Results

To give our readers a glimpse of these three Bissell SpinWave mops’ performance, we tested them using the everyday messes you face at home daily. Below are the observations we made.

Mopping Test Results

The test involved mopping a one-meter square patch of messes we created using honey, egg yolk, margarine, pet urine stain, cooking oil, dirty paw marks, and plain water. We found out that the performance of these three Bissell SpinWave mops is just the same from several experiments. The difference comes in when you introduce cleaning solutions.

In the first test, we used just plain water without any cleaning solution. Well, the results were not so impressive. The sticky messes such as cooking oil, honey, and egg yolk had to mop, and after four passes, you could easily see signs of the particular mess. The results were exceptional for the lighter stains such as urine stains, water spills, and dirty paw marks.

In the second test, we introduced vinegar, a DIY cleaning solution. This time we witnessed a slight improvement in the mopping efficiency. At least all the sticky messes vanished more easily than when using plain water. The light messes were satisfactorily cleaned.

In the third test, we used the recommended Bissell cleaning formula, and the results were as advertised by the American brand. The three models mopped all the messes, including the tough and stuck-on stains, with a lot of ease. From our observations, the recommended Bissell formula makes the difference.

Usability

In this section, find out which of the three upright mops is user friendly. Here, we are going to focus solely on how to use the mop.

Bissell SpinWave

Bissell SpinWave 2039A Usability
The SpinWave offers user-friendly operation. It’s easy to assemble the unit.

Before starting, make sure to fill the 28-ounce water tank with clean water and add the appropriate cleaning solution. Attach the right microfiber pad; for tough stains, use the scrubby pad. On delicate floors, attach the soft touchpad.

This mop comes with an On-Demand Trigger for easy and precise cleaning formula control. Last is the lightweight design and swivel steering for improved maneuverability.

SpinWave Plus

Bissell SpinWave Plus 20391 Usability
Next is the SpinWave Plus, which offers the same level of usability as SpinWave. It’s also fairly easy to assemble and doesn’t need frequent maintenance like charging as it’s a corded model.

To use this mop, you will also need to fill the tank with clean water and add the required cleaning formula depending on the surface.

Bissell SpinWave Plus also features the On-Demand Trigger for easy cleaning solution control and the swivel steering for easy maneuverability.

Bissell SpinWave Cordless

Bissell SpinWave Cordless Usability
Last is Bissell SpinWave Cordless, which has all the convenience features of the SpinWave and SpinWave Plus. You need to attach the mopping pads, add clean water and cleaning solution, and you’re good to go.

It also comes with the On-Demand Trigger and swivel steering. While the idea of a cordless mop is great for those who want cordless freedom, it means you will have to bear with the need for recharging the battery after just 20 minutes of use.

With time, you will also need to invest in a new battery.

Verdict: Bissell SpinWave Cordless vs. SpinWave vs. SpinWave Plus

There you have it, a Bissell SpinWave comparison review. As you have seen, there exist very few differences between these models.

Important

In terms of mopping performance, all three models are just the same, only that the Bissell SpinWave and SpinWave Plus offer continuous mopping courtesy of the 22ft power cord. That also means the mop limits users to a working radius of 22ft. Your preference will determine your choice here; do you want a cordless mop or a corded mop?

  • If you want a corded mop, the Bissell SpinWave Cordless is the best deal though it is more expensive than the other two corded options.
  • For buyers looking for a corded mop, the battle is between Bissell SpinWave vs. SpinWave Plus. Considering the extras that the SpinWave Plus tags along with, it’s the best choice.
  • But if you are a buyer on a budget, the SpinWave is still a worthy bargain as you can always buy the extras later on.

Frequently Asked Questions

In this section, find some of the frequently asked questions about the above Bissell SpinWave mops.

1. Can you use any cleaning solution in Bissell SpinWave?

Yes. You can use alternative cleaning solutions in your Bissell SpinWave. However, it is not recommended by the manufacturer. To get the best mopping performance, use the Bissell formulas. Besides, using any cleaner may void your warranty.

2. Is Bissell SpinWave worth it?

Yes. Bissell SpinWave mops offer the same level of cleaning as hands & knees cleaning. They are easy to use and quite affordable. If you have hard floors, the SpinWave series is the ultimate choice.

3. What is the difference between Bissell SpinWave vs. SpinWave Plus?

These two mops are all the same, save for the fact that the plus model comes with more supplies.

Mary

Hi! Very detailed comparison, thanks. But can you wash the Spinwave pad in a washing machine? Or does Bissell require manual washing only?

Richard Harrison

Hello, Mary! Thank you for your high appreciation and question! Bissell allows us to wash Spinwave reusable cleaning pads manually or in a washing machine. Please only mind that no touch detergents, acids, and bleach are permissible to prevent pad damage.

Aline B.

Hello! Do SpinWave mops suction dirty water anyhow? Couse I see that you spray the liquid but don’t see how they remove it from the floor then.

Richard Harrison

Hello, Aline! Thank you very much for your question! Bissell SpinWave mop cleaners do not have suction ports and do not use suction to collect dirty water. After you spray cleaning liquid on the floor, the cleaner’s mopping pads scrub spots and absorb dirty water.

George Lamark

Can I use other Bissell formulas apart from the recommended and included in the original kit?

Richard Harrison

Hello, George! Thank you very much for your question! You can use absolutely any Bissell formula with our Bissell SpinWave cleaner.

Jim Geary

For vinyl plank and tile floors, are the Spinwave mop type cleaners better than Crosswave or brush-type cleaners that vacuum dirty water? Thanks!

Richard Harrison

Hello, Jim! Thank you very much for your question! Bissell Spinwave, Crosswave, padded, and brushed cleaners are equally efficient for hard floors, including vinyl, laminate, and tile surfaces. Brushes leave fewer stains. However, if your floors need more gentle processing, please, choose non-bristled cleaners.

Brittney

Thank you for your detailed review. I had been searching all over the internet for all of the information you provided in your one blog! Great Work, I was able to make a decision based on the concise information!

Richard Harrison

Hi, Brittney! Thank you very much for your kind words! We really appreciate it)

Paul Duncan

Just a correction. In your description of the Bissell-SpinWave-Cordless 23159, you stated that this cordless model was corded.

Richard Harrison

Hi, Paul Duncan! Thank you so much for correction, my bad)

Angel

Again, thank you for your review. Are there other reusable pads that can be used with this spin wave as it’s very difficult to find some since everyone is sold out. For example, shark steam and scrub has pads that looks similar I wonder if those would work. Thank you so much

Richard Harrison

Hi, Angel! Thank you very much for your comment! Indeed, lots of pads are compatible with these models. But we still recommend you checking compatibility beforehand.

Penny

What is a runtime for BISSELL Spinwave and Spinwave Plus? Unfortunately, in the comparison table, there is no data.

Swartzcop Kennedy

I appreciate your interest in BISSELL robot cleaners. Spinwave and Spinwave Plus cleaners are corded stick vacuum cleaners. The runtime parameter is applicable only for cordless cleaners, where a cleaning cycle is limited to the battery life – runtime. So, these two cleaners can work without any limitations if they are connected to electricity.

Tracey P.

How often should the mop pads be changed for Bissell cleaners?

Richard Harrison

Thank you for the question. Before each use, it is recommended to install clean, dry mop pads. Pads can be washed in the washing machine or by hand. Mop pads can stand 500-1000 washes; after that, you need to purchase new ones.

Hazel

Thank you for the comparison of these cleaners. I am thinking of buying a cordless BISSELL. But I am wondering how I can clean a large flat within 20 minutes. How to extend this time?

Swartzcop Kennedy

I appreciate your interest in BISSELL robot cleaners. Unfortunately, the battery is not detachable to change for the full one, while the other is empty. You need to charge it for four hours until all three lights on the cleaner are illuminated. Only one blinking blue indicator tells that the battery should be charged.

Hebert

Can I mop a carpet with BISSELL Spinwave? All the cleaners that I have checked do not have the function of mopping the carpet!

Richard Harrison

Thank you for the question. BISSELL Spinwave is designed only for hard floors – tile, laminate, hardwood, linoleum, etc.

Bethany Travis

Should I buy a particular cleaning solution for BISSELL cleaners? Or can simple tap water be used?

Swartzcop Kennedy

I appreciate your interest in BISSELL robot cleaners. However, it is recommended to use a particular Bissell multi-surface solution that is also in the package or freshwater. Other solutions, including vinegar, will void your warranty. After the two years warranty expires, you can try any other solutions.

Jessie

How many mop pads should be installed at the same time to one cleaner? According to the picture two.

Richard Harrison

Thank you for the question. You are right; two identical mop pads should be installed, each one in the dedicated place.

Levy

How should BISSELL SPINWAVE cordless be stored while not cleaning?

Richard Harrison

I appreciate your interest in BISSELL robot cleaners. First, make sure that the cleaner is off. Secondly, take off the mop pads for cleaning. Then clean the machine with a solution from the package or water; set it upright on the special tray and put it into a dry, warm place until the next use. While your cleaner is in a storage position, you can charge it with a charger; in this case, the tray should be located near the electrical socket.

Erickson

My Bissell can’t collect the dirt on my laminate, it can’t collect sugar on my tiles. I have tried to clean my hard floors many times. Is it possible to make dry vacuuming of hard floors and carpets with Bissell Spinwave Plus?

Richard Harrison

Thank you for the question. Bissell Spinwave Plus is designed only for mopping.
