EufyCam 2 vs. 2c vs. Arlo Pro 3
Today I will be reviewing the eufyCam 2 vs. 2C vs. Arlo Pro 3. With crime rates always getting up, the importance of security systems cannot be denied. Installing one in your home helps protect your family from intruders and burglars. Even the mere presence of a security camera can strike fear to these wayward troublemakers.
However, installing a surveillance camera can be complicated if you have a wired system. Running data cables and wires through your house is grueling.
You have to tear your house apart to install one. Is there any alternative to this complex installation?
- The eufyCam 2 records videos at 1080p and boasts of having a Sony STARVIS sensor that makes nighttime footage almost as clear as day. This wireless system is a compelling option for those who are seeking reliable home security without having to pay a monthly subscription. While the two-camera kit is sufficient for small homes, you may add more cameras as needed.
- The eufyCam 2C has fewer features compared to its sibling, the eufyCam 2. But if you are looking for an affordable wireless system for your home inside and out, this is the way to go. The camera footage quality is also excellent at 1080p.
- The Arlo Pro 3 costs a lot more than its competitors because it has a robust feature set, including the 2K HD resolution, colored night vision, and a motion-activated spotlight, among others. While the upfront cost is already expensive, it gets even more expensive after the Arlo Smart Plan three-month-trial expires. But if you are looking only for the best, you could never go wrong with this system.
Main Differences
- Resolution
Both the eufyCam 2 and 2c have 1080p resolution. The Arlo Pro 3, on the other hand, outperforms the two eufyCam models in this category with its 2K (2560 x 1440) video resolution. - Cloud Storage
The lack of monthly obligations is one of the major attractions of the eufyCam 2 and 2c. Although Arlo may claim that the Pro 3 may still work without any subscription, you won’t be able to take advantage of the innovative features that make this product ahead of its league. - Battery
Both the eufyCam 2 and 2c use non-removable Li-ion batteries, while the Arlo Pro 3 equips a removable Li-polymer battery. The eufyCam 2C and Arlo Pro 3 have a maximum of three months’ battery life. On the other hand, the eufyCam 2 can last up to 365 days per charge.
Table Comparison
eufyCam 2
The eufyCam 2 by Anker is the upgraded version of eufy’s flagship battery-powered camera, the eufyCam. This wireless home security system.
If its packaging isn’t obvious enough, it boasts of having 365 days’ worth of battery life. I already had the eufyCam 2 installed in our outdoor kitchen for four months, and its battery life still has 74% left. The reason is that the camera is mostly on standby mode.
Besides the fact that the eufyCam 2 is a breeze to set up, another thing I like about this security system is that there are no mandatory monthly fees. It is a one-time purchase!

The eufyCam 2C records 1080p videos, and it is compatible with the same HomeBase as the eufyCam 2. Therefore, you can use both models simultaneously. Considering the features it offers, the lack of any subscription makes it an attractive option. If you have little reason to spend more, the eufyCam 2C would fit your needs.

Arlo Pro 3
The Arlo Pro 3 doesn’t come cheap, but you will get a lot of value for your money. This includes two high-quality cameras that deliver razor-sharp 2K video with excellent contrast and vivid colors. The two-way audio sounded clean on both ends, and the built-in alarm is loud enough to ward off trespassers.
However, you will have to subscribe to an Arlo Smart Plan to enjoy premium features. At the cost of $3 per month, you can already take advantage of Smart Alerts, which did me a great job of identifying people from animals and vehicles.
This pricey indoor/outdoor camera system is a cinch to install. If the battery is running low, you can always recharge the camera using its one-of-a-kind magnetic charger. This unit also supports third-party integrations, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands.

Face to Face Comparison
In today’s review of the eufyCam 2 vs. 2C vs. Arlo Pro 3, I am going to go over the design and feature sets of each model. Let’s dive in!
Design
eufyCam 2C
The eufyCam 2C uses the same HomeBase as the eufyCam 2, which you will need to plug directly into your router using the provided Ethernet cable. Of course, there are two eufyCam 2C cameras, a pair of mounts with screws and fixings, a power adapter, and a USB-A microUSB charging cable.
The eufyCam 2C features the same curved white and black aesthetic, but it is a lot smaller than expected, measuring just 3.2 x 1.89 x 2.24 inches.
There is a slight notch underneath the camera, which reveals the microUSB charging point when pulled up.
Similar to the eufyCam 2, its chassis has a weather-resistance rated at IP67.
Battery Life and Capacity
eufyCam 2C
The eufyCam 2C is powered by the same type of internal battery as the eufyCam 2. But unlike the latter, this model can last only up to three to six months between charges.
Be warned that the battery drains a lot faster if you are connecting your camera with the HomeKit. This is something eufy did not warn us about.
When it comes to charging, it utilizes micro-USB, which has a port covered by a small rubber flap located on the bottom of the camera.
Resolution and Video Quality
eufyCam 2C
Daytime 1080p video recordings are about as crisp and detailed as the eufyCam 2. The only difference, which is barely noticeable, is that the 2C has a 135-degree field of view, instead of 145 degrees.
Although the eufyCam 2C does not have a Sony Starvis sensor, it includes an integrated floodlight, which greatly improved the quality of the nighttime footage. Hence, you can still identify individuals that will do any criminal activity around your property.
Audio and Alarms
eufyCam 2C
The eufyCam 2C also has a built-in theft sensor, which is triggered by activity. When triggered, the camera will belt out a 100-decibel alarm.
You may also trigger the alarm manually using the app. To prevent false alarms, such as playing pets, I adjusted the sensitivity so that the camera will only get triggered by activity due to human-sized intruders.
Smart Home Integration
eufyCam 2C
The eufyCam 2C supports Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa.
However, eufy described this feature as “Beta” and so, there might be instances where you can’t get your Google Assistant to show a live stream on your smart TV.
Storage Options
eufyCam 2C
Similar to the eufyCam 2, the 2C is not associated with any cloud subscription. Up to 16 GB of footage is automatically stored in the HomeBase, which is good for around three months of recordings. However, there is also an option to store recordings in the cloud for a small fee of $3 per month.
Installation
eufyCam 2C
Both the eufyCam 2 and 2C use the HomeBase 2. Since I already have an account with eufy, I was able to get the eufyCam 2C up and running in a few minutes.
But if you are setting up a new system, you will be following the same procedure as I did with the eufyCam 2.
- Start by plugging the HomeBase into the wall so that you can connect it with your router.
- Download the eufy app for your Android or iOs device to create an account. Select the system and add the first camera.
- The mounts themselves are straightforward. Also, the app will show you the strength of the Wi-Fi signal so that you can choose the best location before you start screwing.
- While the magnetic ball joint gives me complete freedom to select which angle I want to install the camera, I prefer installing it with the traditional screw and mount.

The Arlo Pro 3 boasts of an array of features that add real convenience. This includes user-friendly app controls, crystal clear 2K resolution, colored night vision, and a lot more.
Unfortunately, most of the admirable AI features are locked behind a subscription service. That is why the average homeowner might find this system an overkill, given the upfront cost plus monthly fees. If you are not happy about it, you might want to consider getting the eufyCam 2 and 2C, instead.
The eufyCam 2 and 2C are alike in many ways. Both models ditch subscriptions and are compatible with the same HomeBase that can save up to 16 GB of footage. In terms of performance, both the eufyCam 2 and eufyCam 2C capture video in 1080p.
The only difference between the eufyCam 2 and 2C is that the latter has a night LED and only has 180 days of battery life.
