Tineco Floor ONE S3 vs. S5 Face-to-Face Comparison Review

Now, to the main agenda of the day, how does the Tineco Floor ONE S3 compare to the Floor ONE S5? To help you make the right decision, we have compared them based on the important factors considered when shopping for a vacuum and mop combo. Without further ado, let's get into it.
1. Design and Aesthetics
upright

The Tineco Floor ONE S3 is an upright vacuum with a compact design. It measures 11.3 x 10 x 43.3 inches and weighs just 9.9 lbs.

It boasts a sleek and stylish design and has been finished in black and silver.

For easy storage, it tags along with a convenient 3-in-1 docking station that can be wall mounted to save on floor space.

upright

The Tineco Floor ONE S5 is not different. It is also an upright vacuum with a compact design, much smaller than your traditional upright vacuum.

However, the dimensions and weight are slightly different from Floor ONE S3. This one measures 10.75 x 10.24 x 43.3 inches and is slightly heavier at 9.92 lbs.

It is also stylish and has been finished in dark blue and silver, and comes with a wall-mountable 3-in-1 docking station.

As far as design and aesthetics are concerned, there is no winner. Both models are stylish and sleek upright vacuums with a compact design. The differences in dimensions and weight are negligible.

2. Cleaning Orientation
2-in-1

The Tineco Floor ONE S3 is an upright cleaner that vacuums and mops at a go. It is suitable for hard floors, including tile, hardwood, marble, linoleum, vinyl, stone, etc.

For the record, it is not designed for carpets. It can pick up all kinds of debris, from fine debris such as flour to large debris such as raw popcorn. It is also ideal for picking up pet hair, so it fits the bill if you have heavy-shedding breeds.

Besides picking up debris, the Floor ONE S3 can wash and clear sticky messes, stains, and grime.

2-in-1

The Floor ONE S5 is similar to the Floor ONE S3 as it is also a 2-in-1 upright cleaner that vacuums and mops for comprehensive cleaning. It is designed for all hard floors, including tile, hardwood, marble, linoleum, vinyl, stone, etc.

Just like the S3, the S5 is not meant for carpets. It can, however vacuum all kinds of debris on hard floors, from fine to large debris.

You can also rely on the S5 to handle pet hair and other pet messes, including kitty litter. The Floor ONE S5 is also suitable for mopping stains, grime, and other sticky messes.

In this second round of this Floor ONE S3 vs. Floor ONE S5 comparison review, it's hard to call a winner as both models can vacuum and mop, and besides, they can pick up all kinds of debris on hard floors and wipe out stains and grime satisfactorily, so the round ends in a draw.

3. Vacuuming Performance
great

Regarding vacuuming performance, the Floor ONE S3 is a great deal. It packs a powerful motor with excellent suction to lift all kinds of debris, from light debris, such as pet hair, to heavy debris, such as sand pebbles.

It has a single cleaning mode, AUTO, which springs into action when you power the machine. There is no manual suction adjustment as the system is equipped with iLoop™ Smart Sensor technology. iLoop works by sensing dry messes on hard floors and adjusts suction power accordingly.

For light debris, it maintains standard suction, while for heavy debris, it steps up suction. Under the cleaning head is a powerful brush roller that agitates and lifts dirt ready for suctioning. But one thing about this brush is that it is not suitable for edge cleaning.

Still, on vacuuming, it’s worth mentioning that the operating noise is low courtesy of Tineco’s innovative Smart Noise Optimization that keeps operation noise at under 78dB. Also worth mentioning is the disk filtration system that consists of a true-HEPA filter that captures 99.97% allergens and other elements and filters down to 0.3 microns.

great

The Tineco Floor ONE S5 is also excellent when it comes to vacuuming performance. It also features a brushless motor that delivers enough suction to pick up all kinds of debris on hard floors. Like the S3, the S5 also has one cleaning mode, AUTO. It doesn’t have manual suction adjustment.

For the record, an S5 variant dubbed the S5 PRO has a manual suction adjustment (AUTO and MAX). But the S5 relies on iLoop Smart Sensor Technology, which detects dry messes and adjusts suction accordingly.

The S5 also features a powerful brushroll for agitation and dirt pickup. But it is different from the S3’s brush because it has better edge cleaning courtesy of a redesigned brush head with the brush positioned towards one end as opposed to the center like with the S3.

The S5 also has Smart Noise Optimization that keeps operation noise under 78dB. It maintains a disk filtration system with a true-HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of allergens and filters down to 0.3 microns.

In this round, it is a close call as both models have the same motor and, consequently, the same suction power. They also have one cleaning mode, feature iLoop Smart Sensor Technology, and are at par when it comes to operation noise. However, the S5 is the ultimate winner as it has advanced edge cleaning, so it cleans the wall edges better than the S3.

4. Mopping Performance
dual tank

Under the hood, the Tineco Floor ONE S3 packs a dual tank design. One tank is for clean water, and another for dirty water. Separating dirty and clean water ensures no streak marks are left on the floor. The S3’s clean water tank has a 0.6L capacity, while the dirty water tank can hold 0.5L.

The S3’s clean water tanks are detachable and at the front of the unit, at the top and bottom. To mop the floors, the S3 still relies on the roller brush, designed to tackle tough stains and grime effectively, while the precision blade squeezes dirty water to keep the brush clean. It, however, doesn’t clean the wall edges effectively as the brushroll is centered.

The S3 still relies on iLoop Smart Sensor Technology to detect wet messes and adjusts water flow accordingly. The smart water flow adjustment ensures efficient water usage and, importantly, faster drying as it releases just enough water to handle the mess.

dual tank

The Floor ONE S5 also comes with a two-tank design, one for clean water and the other for dirty water. This ensures that your floor is clean, with no dirty streaks like when using your traditional mop with a single water tank.

While the S3 and S5 have dual tanks, there is a difference. The S5 has larger tanks, so you can clean for longer without interruptions. The Floor ONE S5’s clean water tank has a 0.8L capacity, while the dirty water tank can hold 0.7L.

Another difference is the tank locations. While both tanks are detachable, just like the S3, the S5’s dirty water tank is at the front while the clean water tank is at the back of the unit. Another difference is the brush roll which has enhanced edge cleaning for mopping the wall edges, something the S3 can’t do. The S5’s cleaning head also comes with a precision blade that squeezes away dirty water keeping the brush clean.

Lastly, the S5 relies on iLoop Smart Sensor Technology, which detects wet messes and adjusts water flow accordingly for efficiency and faster drying time.

Both models excel in terms of mopping performance. However, the new Floor ONE S5 has the edge as it mops wall edges far much thoroughly than the S3. What's more? The S5's CWT and DWT are larger, so you can clean a bigger space on one fill.

5. Usability
cordless, swivel steering

As mentioned earlier, the S3 is a compact upright vacuum. It boasts excellent maneuverability courtesy of the lightweight cleaning head with swivel steering that makes turning effortless. You can easily push or pull the cleaner courtesy of two wheels on the cleaning head and the ergonomic handle with fingertip controls.

On the other hand, the cordless design makes the S3 suitable for cleaning anywhere without worrying about the availability of power outlets or tangles, as with corded cleaners.

One great thing we like about the S3 is the smart features. First, it comes with an All-In-One LED Display that shows the cleaner’s status, such as dirt and battery levels, suction power, and warnings and malfunctions. The S3 also supports 2.4GHz WiFi, which facilitates smart connectivity. There is a voice assistant, which just like the LED, gives you real-time updates as you go about cleaning.

Besides the voice assistant, the S3 can sync with your Smartphone via the Tineco Home app. On the app, you can also get updates on the status of the vacuum mop and even monitor its performance in real time. You can even set reminders and access troubleshooting guides and tech support.

cordless, swivel steering

The Tineco Floor ONE S5 also has a compact design for easy maneuverability. The cleaning head features a swivel steering mechanism for easy turning and bending the cleaner to reach under furniture. It can also be easily pushed courtesy of the two large wheels at the back of the cleaning head and the ergonomic handle with fingertip controls.

On the other hand, the cordless design doesn’t limit your reach, and besides, you shouldn’t worry about power cord tangles as with corded models. The Floor ONE S5 is also a smart cleaner with an All-In-One LED Display that displays all the crucial data of the machine, including the battery levels, dirt levels, suction power, malfunctions, and so on.

It also supports 2.4 GHz, which facilitates smart connectivity Like with the S3, the S5 has a voice assistant that gives you essential updates via voice.

The S5 also allows for app connectivity, so you can get real-time updates via the Tineco Home app and even set reminders, access troubleshooting guides, and contact support. For the record, an S5 variant dubbed the S5 PRO has an advanced animated display for easy monitoring.

As far as usability is concerned, there is no winner, as both models are compact and have swivel steering, wheels, and an ergonomic handle. They also feature an LED for monitoring, have voice assistant capabilities, and can be synced with smartphones.

6. Power Source
4000mAh battery

As mentioned above, the Floor ONE S3 is a cordless vacuum mop. It comes with a rechargeable battery. Tineco packed it with a 21.6V, 4000mAh battery that offers a 35 minutes runtime when working in normal mode. However, the runtime dips slightly when it adjusts suction to the maximum.

The high runtime is achieved courtesy of Smart Battery Optimization, which enables the robot to use power efficiently by adjusting suction, water flow, and the brush roller speed. Regarding power management, you will have to recharge the battery once it is low. The recharge time is 4 hours on average.

4000mAh battery

The Tineco Floor ONE S5 is also a cordless vacuum mop with a rechargeable battery.

It also features the same battery as the S3, a 21.6V, 4000mAh battery that offers up to 35 minutes runtime when operating normally, but when operating in boosted suction mode, the runtime is shorter. It also maintains Smart Battery Optimization, which adjusts suction power, water flow, and brush roll speed.

As for power management, it must be recharged by fixing it to the charging station. The recharge time is around 4 hours.

Here, it's a tie as both Tineco vacuum mops come with the same battery, offer the same runtime and the recharge time is also the same.

7. Warranty and Aftersales
1-year

The Tineco Floor ONE S5 comes with a 1-year warranty, so you are eligible for repair or replacements within the first year of purchase.

In addition, support is available in the form of tutorials and troubleshooting guides from Tineco and other 3rd parties. As for parts and supplies, you can get them at affordable prices on Amazon.

1-year

The S5 is not different as it also features a 1-year warranty. Support, too, is available from the Tineco team.

There are tutorials and troubleshooting guides that can help you when you are stuck. Parts and supplies are also in plenty and at affordable prices.

8. What's in the Box?

The Tineco Floor ONE S3 comes with the following:

  • Tineco Floor ONE S3 Vacuum Mop
  • 3-in-1 Docking Station
  • 3-in-1 Cleaning tool
  • Extra HEPA filter (1)
  • Extra Brush Roll (1)
  • Cleaning Solution

On the other hand, the Tineco Floor ONE S5 comes with the following:

  • Tineco Floor ONE S5 Vacuum Mop
  • 3-in-1 Docking Station
  • 3-in-1 Cleaning tool
  • Extra HEPA filter (2)
  • Extra Brush Roll (2)
  • Cleaning Solution

Here again, it's a close call, but the S5 wins the round as it comes with more accessories; an extra HEPA filter and brushroll

9. Maintenance

The Tineco Floor ONE S3 requires some maintenance but is not as intensive as your ordinary vacuum mop. Before using the unit, ensure the battery has enough charge to avoid unnecessary interruptions when cleaning.

Another frequent maintenance practice will be filling the clean water tank with fresh water and cleaning solution if necessary and emptying the dirty water tank. The filters should also be popped out and cleaned after a month or so and replaced after 4-6 months.

As for the brush, you don’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty as the S3 is a self-cleaning vacuum mop. It features a One-Touch Multi-Stage Self Cleaning System that automatically cleans the brush roller and tubes with the press of one button on the handle.

However, note the brush will wear off after 6-12 months, depending on usage. After it wears out, it should be replaced with a new brush for optimal performance.

Floor ONE S5 also requires some maintenance. Just like the S3, the battery should be charged before use.

The clean water tank should be filled with clean water and detergent and the dirty water tank emptied.

The filters should also be checked and cleaned regularly, preferably after a month, and replaced every 4-6 months. Like the S3, the S5 has a self-cleaning mechanism that takes care of the brushes.

Press the One-Touch button on the handle, and the S5 will do all the dirty work for you, cleaning the brushroll and tubes. Depending on wear and tear, the brush should also be replaced after 6-12 months.

As far as maintenance is concerned, there is no winner, as both models are easy to maintain and come with an automatic self-cleaning mechanism.

Sleek, cleans, and the technology is everything!!

Designed like a carpet cleaner, the S3 mop works impressively on tile and hardwood floors. Fill the reservoir with a capful of cleaning solution and tap water, ensure it's charged, and you're good to go. The package includes all necessary accessories, potentially making it a replacement for your standard mop and bucket. The S3 features a self-propelled function and sensor indicators that signal when you're dealing with a particularly dirty spot. It's satisfying to witness the spot getting thoroughly cleaned. An auto mode activates upon tilting the handle back. However, considering its hefty $400 price tag, I give it a 4-star rating. It's recommended for those with ample hardwood or tile flooring who can afford the investment.

Why had I returned this vacuum cleaner?

I purchased this model Tineco Floor One S5 on Black Friday but could not use it properly. I read your review, which promised good dry and wet cleaning results. I chose it between Roborock Dayd because it is lighter weight and True HEPA filter. I do not have pets or kids, so I do not need a dual brush roller system; a single brush roller seemed enough for me. The most appreciated feature should be a hand vac mode to clean furniture and my car. However, what did I receive?
I received a broken model. The LED display with iLoop smart sensor came broken. Even though the battery was fully charged, my display did not show any status, and there was no button to turn it on. Without this display, I can’t check the cleaning status, battery and use the cleaner properly. I was able to connect the cleaner with the app, but it still can’t work. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on any other features, such as roller brushers, suction power, or containers.
I contacted Tineco support via ticket, where I told them about my problem. I waited a week for the solution, and they suggested changing the cleaner. I have sent my broken piece, but I am still waiting for a new model to come. I do understand that the display was broken during transportation, but the packing should be improved to avoid such problems! After a long wait, I give only three starts, but the vacuum cleaner looks very convenient and pleasant.

My lightweight helper in regular cleaning

Thank you for your comparison. I was choosing between these two models, Roborock Dyad and Tineco S5, and it was very helpful. I wanted to replace my Dyson Cyclone V10 as it was only a dry vacuum cleaner, but it did an outstanding job collecting mess after my two golden retrievers. I have chosen the Tineco S5 because its smart iLoop sensor automatically detects how much debris is on the floor. I like the color changing from red to blue. Another nice feature is the high water recovery rate; even though it has a large clean water tank – 0.8 L, I do not fill it every time, it is sufficient for 2-3 cleaning procedures.
It has an ergonomic design with a nice handle; it has a rotating cleaning head that allows you to clean corners. I can clean the stairs with him from one side to another! The only problem I have with this model is the regular clogging of rollers and dirty water pipes because of the hair. But honestly, I have the same with Dyson and my Roomba robot previously. All clogs are easily removed, and all parts are connected with a click, so no worries. To clean the rollers, the maintenance brush can be used (from the package), but I also can use scissors.
I would really appreciate it if this model costs $300, not more, but you may catch some coupons or discounts. All 2-in-1 cleaners (for wet and dry cleaning) cost about $500, which is a reasonable price. I recommend this model after half a year of usage, as I had no significant issues with it.

Embrace the Hype - The S5 Truly Delivers!

It's not often that products live up to the hype, but the S5 is an exception. Even with a regularly maintained clean household, the S5 surprised me with how much additional dirt it managed to pick up. Despite my routine of vacuuming daily and steam mopping once or twice a week, the S5 left me speechless. I was shocked to see the dirty water tank filled with brown mucky water after its maiden run, especially since I had steam mopped the night before. From that moment, I knew the S5 was worth every penny. I've been using it daily since its arrival, and it consistently delivers stellar results.

A few tips for those planning to purchase:

  • Start with vacuuming: The S5 is not meant to replace a dedicated vacuum. Consider it a power mop, washing the floors after you've picked up large debris. The filter cleaning requires hands-on involvement, so you'll want to pick up any nasty chunks before the S5 hits the floor.
  • Water Usage: For my 1800 sq. ft. LVP floors, about 1.5 tanks of clean water are needed per wash. Remember, cleaning the floors daily is part of my routine, so this is merely a maintenance wash, but refills might be required during the process.
  • Soap Selection: You can use any low-foaming detergent of your choice. I personally used Tide (sparingly!) which caused minor sensor issues, but that was likely due to excessive foam.
  • Regular Cleaning: After each use, take a few seconds to clean the S5 components, including the roller brush and the cover. It's a simple process that ensures longevity.
  • Stairs: The S5 shuts off when placed upright, so to clean stairs, my technique is to wash half a step at a time - one half on the way up, and the other half on the way down.

There are some minor complaints, though:

  • 1) Rapid backward movements can leave faint streaks on the floor, but this can be avoided by always moving the vacuum forward and overlapping backward strokes.
  • 2) The water tank does require frequent refilling, slightly inconvenient but manageable.
  • 3) The self-clean cycle requires 10% battery and a half-full clean water tank. It's a minor concern and easy to address.
  • 4) The filter cleaning requires handling the dirt directly. It's not the most pleasant task but can be easily rinsed in the sink.
  • 5) The S5 doesn't lie flat enough to slide under furniture, which could be a bit limiting for those who like thorough under-furniture cleaning.

Despite these minor issues, I am over the moon with the S5. It's an upgrade in all the right places, including ease of cleaning its components, a larger water tank, and better edge cleaning with its roller brush. My only regret is not making this purchase sooner.

Thank you for the review! How long can these cordless Tineco battery last? Is there a possibility to purchase an extra battery and set it once the first one runs out?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you very much for your question! Tineco Floor ONE S3 and S5 models come with a 4000 mAh battery. That’s enough for about an hour. The battery is built-in and non-replaceable. So, unfortunately, you cannot change it but only charge when it runs out.

Jody

Could you please clarify what is a roller length of the S5 model? I have several narrow places between kitchen сupboards. How does it cope with skirting?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you very much for your question! The Tineco Floor S5 roller length is 10 inches. But if that’s too big for your kitchen, we’d recommend you check the Tineco Floor S5 Combo model, which comes with the smallest roller (8.5 inches).

Edwin Grimes

Very detailed comparison, thank you! Which model should I buy for a two-storey private house with a dog?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you very much for your question! As we found out in our Tineco Floor ONE S3 vs S5 review the models are very similar. The S5 is a bit lighter and equipped with the Enhanced Edge Cleaning and bigger tanks. If you have a big house, the cleaner with enlarged tanks may be a good choice. Otherwise, we’d recommend getting the budget S3 model. Besides, you’ll have a chance to buy it even cheaper during the coming Amazon Prime Day.

Ortega

How do the Tineco cleaners cope with smells?

Richard Harrison

Thank you very much for your question! These Tineco models are not steam mops, so they are not that good at smell & bacteria elimination. With Tineco’s you can quickly and easily do vacuuming and wet cleaning on hard floors. If you’re looking for a steam mop, you may like our Bissell 1940 vs. 1940w vs. 1940a vs. 19404 comparison.
