Ecovacs N8 Pro
This Roborock S7 vs Ecovacs N8 Pro comparison review is suitable for homeowners wishing to buy a good robot cleaner, but they are torn between the two models. So please find out how they compare and, importantly, which one is best for you.
Roborock S7 and Ecovacs N8 Pro are two of the most popular robot vacuum and mop cleaners in 2022. They bear many similarities, but then, clear-cut differences make one of them a better deal.
The main differences between Roborock S7 and Ecovacs N8 Pro are the suction power, battery capacity, and the main brush. The N8 Pro has slightly more suction power making it a better vacuum only on carpets. Besides the suction power, the Deebot N8 Pro has a TrueDetect technology that enables the robot vacuum to detect obstacles better. Meanwhile, the S7 has almost twice the bigger battery, works much longer without recharging, and a rubber brush with fins has a multi-directional floating, collecting more dust and hair without tangling.

Roborock S7 vs Ecovacs N8 Pro – Face-to-Face Comparison Review
The Roborock S7 is a round-shaped robot vacuum with a low-profile design allowing it to go under most furniture and other households. It has a 14-inch diameter and stands at 4-inches.
As for the weight, it is 8 lbs. The Roborock S7 might not score highly in a low-profile test, but it’s appealing aesthetically.
It’s available in black or white, with a single power button and a raised turret at the top interface.
ECOVACS Deebot N8 Pro is quite similar to Roborock S7 in terms of design, dimensions, and weight.
This one is a little bigger but still has a low-profile design measuring 18.9-inch diameter and stands at 6.4-inches. However, it’s significantly heavier – 13 lbs.
The N8 Pro is also available in black or white with a similarly raised turret as the S7.
The winner in this comparison is Roborock S7. Both vacuums have a low-profile design and are available in two color options. But the Roborock S7 is slimmer and lighter; this helps to go under more furniture and is easier to carry.
The Roborock S7 is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum. This means it can vacuum and mop simultaneously, so you won’t need to spend more on a separate robot mop. It offers wet mopping, courtesy of an onboard water tank. With ultrasonic sound, it detects the carpet, raises the mopping pad and increases the suction power for deep carpet cleaning.
You also can schedule only vacuuming routes. When it comes to specialization, the S7 is suitable for all types of bare floors, from hardwood and tile to linoleum and marble, among others. You can also rely on it to vacuum low, medium, and high pile carpets and area rugs.
Last, the S7 has been designed for homes with pets. It picks up all kinds of pet hair, from short to long dog hair and kitty litter. You can also trust it to wipe the wet paw marks and urine stains.
The ECOVACS Deebot N8 Pro is also a 2-in-1 robot cleaner that vacuums and mops simultaneously. In addition, it comes with a water tank to facilitate wet mopping.
As for specialization, the Deebot N8 Pro is designed for all bare floors, from fragile hardwood to hard floors such as tile and linoleum, among others. It’s also a better robot vacuum for carpets than the S7, courtesy of slightly higher suction power.
The Deebot N8 Pro will also handle all kinds of pet messes, including pet hair, paw marks, and even urine stains.
While the S7 and N8 Pro are similar in terms of cleaning orientation, the Pro model wins this round as it offers better carpet vacuuming than the S7. The extra suction brings about this difference the N8 Pro puts up.
The Roborock S7 is an effective vacuum cleaner with a powerful brushless 4-speed motor that ensures 2,500 Pa (Max mode) HyperForce suction for deep carpet cleaning.
The other three modes are Quiet (600 Pa), Balanced (900 Pa), and Turbo (1500 Pa).
However, the S7 might not be the quietest model we have tested when it comes to operation noise. Quiet mode produces about 64 dB, while in Max+, the operation noise is around 72 dB.
One of the differences between Roborock S7 vs Ecovacs N8 Pro is the suction power. Although Ecovacs N8 Pro has a 4-speed motor for four suction modes, the Deebot N8 Pro puts up a whopping 2,600pa in Max+.
The other three modes are Quiet (200 Pa), Standard (600 Pa), and Max (1500 Pa). This is the sole reason we recommend it as the best cleaner for carpets, especially if you have a high pile and thick carpets.
Other features, including the modes, remain the same. But of course, expect louder operation noise here. While the S7 in Max produces 72dB, the N8 Pro produces 73dB.
In this third round, Deebot N8 Pro carries the day as it offers high suction in Max+ mode that comes in handy when dealing with carpets. All the same, Roborock S7 is a worthy choice considering its higher suction power in other modes (Quiet, Balanced, and Turbo).
The Roborock S7 is a robot vacuum with a mopping function. It features an S7’s VibraRise Technology for sonic mopping pad vibration at a rate of 3000 times per minute at a mop 600 g pressure. It has a 0.3 L electronic water tank, a peristaltic pump and intelligent mop lifting. The tank capacity is enough to clean up to 2150 sq ft of hard floor in one cleaning cycle.
There are three mopping intensities with different water flow: mild (150 min / 1650 times per minute), moderate (120 min runtime / 2300 times per minute), and intense (80 min runtime/ 3000 times per minute).
It also has a special fine mopping mode with double mopping and moving Z-shape pattern. To prevent the robot vacuum from wetting the carpets, Roborock designed the S7 with a carpet ultrasonic sensor located on the bottom.
The Deebot N8 Pro is also good in terms of mopping performance. It comes with the OZMO Mopping System with smart water dispersion, so you still have a 0.24 L water tank that’s an electronically controlled water pump for efficient water usage.
In addition, there are four water adjustment levels (ultra-high, high, medium, and low) for customized cleaning and the option of double home coverage.
On the other hand, the vibrating mopping pad does a great job scrubbing the stubborn stains and grime. Lastly, the N8 Pro also features ultrasonic sensors that detect carpets to prevent the robot from wetting them.
Both robots are good mopping cleaners. They have automatic carpet detection to prevent their wet mopping, several water adjustments levels, and a vibration pod. The Roborock S7 is a winner; in addition to these features, it has intelligent mop lifting, and its water tank is larger – 0.3 L.
The Robotock S7 might not have a real-time camera but navigates accurately courtesy of a laser-based LiDAR Navigation and Roborock’s updated Adaptive Route Algorithms that relies on sensors for obstacles and collision avoidance choosing the optimized routes for cleaning.
A retractable bumper in front also absorbs physical impact in the unlikely event the robot hits obstacles; the vertical bumper (a raised turret) in the middle protects the top. There are also 4 IR cliff sensors on the bottom to prevent falling.
In addition, the robot is equipped with a certified laser distance sensor (LDS) to reduce speed in front of obstacles.
The Deebot N8 Pro also lacks the real-time camera that VSLAM robot vacuums come with. However, it’s intelligent enough to find its way around with high precision.
It also relies on a laser-based LiDAR Navigation that is precisely the same as that in the S7. The Anti-collision sensors and soft bumper protect the robot and the furniture, and four anti-drop sensors (two in front and two in back) prevent it from falling.
However, the N8 Pro takes obstacle detection a notch higher. Alongside dTOF Laser Detection, cutting-edge TrueDetect 3D technology detects obstacles up to 2 millimeters in the distance up to 10 m high with higher precision for in-depth cleaning without any accidents.
Navigation is one aspect that makes both robots a great deal in this comparison review, even with slight differences. They have LIDAR navigation and sensors to prevent collisions, hitting obstacles and anti-falling.
The Roborock S7 is a state-of-the-art robot vacuum that creates and stores hyper-accurate digital maps of your home for up to four floors.
The S7 smartphone application also features digital boundaries (up to 10 no-go zones,10 no mop zones, and 10 virtual walls) that help you create custom boundaries where you don’t want the robot to reach.
With ultrasonic carpet recognition, carpets will be automatically marked on each floor map; also, the mopping pad automatically rises on carpets on 5 mm to prevent them from being wet.
In addition, the robot has adaptive route algorithms and automatic room recognition based on the type of surfaces; if required for each room, a customized cleaning can be set with a specific schedule.
Regarding the mapping features, the Deebot N8 Pro is similar to the S7. However, it relies on TrueMapping Technology to create and store maps of your home with 2x the coverage and 4x the precision.
In addition, N8 Pro creates systematic cleaning routes and performs 360° scans to find the most efficient and the easiest path to follow for entire level cleaning, thus ensuring efficient cleaning without any missed spots. The N8 Pro also has digital boundaries (no-go zones and no mop zones).
What’s more? The robot facilitates customized cleaning by allowing homeowners to divide, merge, label, and create multiple maps.
It’s also possible to draw out areas that need more attention and even assign customized cleaning settings for each room.
Here, it's hard to call a winner now that the two have the same mapping features and capabilities. However, the S7 has more options to create digital boundaries and ultrasonic carpet recognition.
The Roborock S7 comes with a washable E11 dust filter in a separate filter cover and a water filter in a water tank. The dust goes through the dust filter from the bottom to reduce its blockage and increase efficiency. It should be cleaned at least every 2 weeks and dried 24 hours before new use, and replaced at least after one year of usage.
The Deebot N8 Pro comes with a 3-layer dust filtration washable system consisting of high-efficiency filters that capture 99% of allergens. However, these are not true HEPA filters, so expect them to filter down to 0.6 microns. Remember, true HEPA filters filter down to 0.3 microns. The maintenance and replacement requirements are the same as for Roborock S7.
There is no contest here as both robot vacuums have the equivalent filtration system.
The Roborock S7 comes with two brush systems. First is the main rubber brush with spiral fins to avoid better hair tangles and longer service life. Option of multi-directional floating provides better cleaning of uneven surfaces.
The brush is perfect for homes with pets and leaves no scratches on the floor. The main spiral brush is complemented by a side brush that reaches the deep corners and wall edge.
Deebot N8 Pro comes with a bristled spiral main brush that is effective in agitation and dirt pickup, except for long pet hairs that tend to tangle it.
There is also a pair of sweeping side brushes that spin while reaching the wall edges and deep corners where the main brush can’t reach.
The winner in the comparison of Roborock S7 vs Ecovacs N8 Pro is Roborock as it has an advanced rubber brush with fins with multi-directional floating and longer service life anti-tangling feature. The number of side brushes does not impact cleaning performance so much; one is sufficient, as well as two.
The Roborock S7 comes with a 0.47 L onboard dustbin that’s enough to hold quite a lot of dirt. Unfortunately, the S7 doesn’t include Roborock’s revolutionary Auto Empty Station with a 3L Dust Bag that can empty the robot vacuum for 60 days.
But the good news is that it’s compatible with the automated emptying technology, so you are all good if you upgrade it by purchasing the Auto Empty Station.
The Deebot N8 Pro is almost the same as the S7. It comes with a 0.42 L onboard bin, and no Auto Empty Station has been included.
But it is compatible with Deebot’s automatic self-emptying technology. With the 2.5 L Auto Empty Station, you can enjoy 30 days of hands-free vacuuming.
As mentioned above, these cleaners have the same dustbin features, but the Roborock has a bigger onboard dustbin and is compatible with a bigger Auto Empty station, so it is a winner.
The S7 is a smart home-ready robot vacuum courtesy of 2.4GHz WiFi compatibility. The robot can be operated remotely using the Roborock App available, for both iOS and Android platforms.
Besides smartphone app operation, the S7 can sync with voice assistants, including Alexa and Google Assistant. Also worth mentioning is programmability. Homeowners can set their preferred vacuuming and mopping schedules, no-go zones, and digital walls, set section level, mopping pod vibration strength, and water flow.
The robot vacuum will leave its dock to clean your home when a scheduled time reaches. You can track via the application the cleaning progress and check the routes.
Deebot N8 Pro doesn’t have any unique features as far as automation and smart features are concerned.
It syncs via 2.4GHz WiFi with the ECOVACS mobile app for remote operation and can also work with Alexa and Google Assistant.
Again, the scheduling feature with intensity settings and unlimited virtual boundaries (no-go and no-mop zones) are available to give homeowners the flexibility to focus on other chores.
There is no winner here again as the S7 and N8 Pro have similar automation and smart features and differ only in software smartphone application names.
The Roborock S7 comes with a powerful 5,200mAh lithium-ion battery that can put up 180 minutes of runtime in Quiet mode.
However, on higher power modes, the runtime dips.
When it comes to power management, the S7 will dock to recharge when the power is low and resume cleaning afterward.
Deebot N8 Pro, on the other hand, uses a 3,200mAh lithium-ion battery. It puts up a 110-minute runtime in low power mode, but the runtime on high power (Max) dips to around 55 minutes.
As for power management, this robot too has auto-recharge and auto-resume functions. This is alongside the quick charge feature that calculates the amount of charge needed to complete the task at hand instead of charging for the entire 4 hours recharge time.
The winner between Roborock S7 vs Ecovacs N8 Pro is Roborock. It has a higher-capacity 5,200mAh lithium-ion battery, offers up to 180 minutes runtime in one run, and can recharge and resume cleaning.

Maintenance
Lift the robot vacuum and check for tangles and signs of wearing on the bristles or fins. Remove the tangled hair and any other dirt. If there are signs of wear and tear, or the brush has served you for 8-12 months, buy a replacement.
Here again, inspect the brush to make sure there are no tangles. Replace it if there are signs of wear. Replacement is needed after 8-12 months.
At least twice a month, pop out the filter and tap it in a trash can to remove excess dirt. Then, rinse the filter using cold water, let it dry and return it. Replace filters after 6-12 months.
The N8 Pro filter also requires maintenance after two weeks or so. Pop out the filter, remove excess dust, rinse it using cold water, let it dry, and put it back. Replace the filter after 6-12 months.
To prevent the buildup of bad odor, empty the S7’s onboard bin manually after each cleaning session. For the model with the Automatic Empty Station, remove the disposable bag when it’s full and insert a new one (about 60 days).
The Deebot N8 Pro needs to be emptied after each cleaning session or when full. For the N8 Pro+, replace the full disposable bag with a new one (about 30 days).
After a week of daily mopping, consider washing the mopping pads and leaving them to dry in readiness for subsequent use. The pads should be replaced when they show signs of wear and tear, probably after a month of daily mopping.
The N8 Pro’s mopping pads also require the same maintenance as the S7. So you should also buy replacements after a month.
