I finally decided to do this Narwal Freo vs. Roborock Q Revo challenge after numerous questions from readers who were wondering which is the best option between the two. In this review, find out more about these two robot vacuums, their features, cleaning performance, and everything in between.
The two share quite a lot in that they are both hard floor and carpet cleaners, they both handle pet hair satisfactorily, and besides vacuuming, they can mop.
But all said and done, there are profound differences which should inform your purchase decision.
The main difference between Narwal Freo and Roborock Q Revo is the cleaning performance and convenience. Roborock has higher suction and a better mopping mechanism, meaning it offers better cleaning performance overall. Besides, it supports automatic bin emptying, something the Freo doesn’t.

Narwal Freo sports the traditional robot vacuum design as it’s round-shaped and has a low-profile design, so it can go under most furniture with low clearance, including sofas, beds, kickstands, and so on.
This is important as most dirt hides in such hard-to-reach areas. Also worth mentioning is the EdgeSwing feature that makes it possible for the robot to reach the wall edges effectively.

When it comes to build quality, you can be rest assured that the Freo can withstand common accidents and pet scratch marks courtesy of the premium construction. bAesthetically, it’s also appealing and, in fact, comes with a sleek LCD panel and a glossy white finish.
Roborock Q Revo can also go under most furniture and pass between tight spaces courtesy of the minimalist design.
It’s also round-shaped like the Freo and measures 13.8 inches in diameter and 3.8 inches thin, so it goes under low-profile furniture unrestricted.
The build quality is also commendable courtesy of the high-grade materials used in the construction, so even with numerous falls down the stairs, it will remain in good shape.
The base station, too, won’t require much space, though it’s noticeably larger than the Freo’s. You can opt for the white model or a black one.
Narwal and Roborock are both Chinese robot vacuums, but their build quality is up to the standard, unlike many other brands from China.
Narwal Freo is such a versatile cleaner that offers excellent value for money now that it’s quite affordable, and you don’t need a separate robot mop as it combines a vacuum and mop function.

This robot is a multi-surface cleaner that has been designed for all hard floors, including tile, vinyl, hardwood, laminate, and so on. It also packs enough power to handle your carpets, be they low pile carpets or high pile.
Last, you can rely on the Freo as a pet hair robot vacuum, considering how effective it is in picking up my dog’s long hairs and kitty litter.
You also get the same value for money with the Q Revo, and that’s, in fact, the reason we paired the Freo with it and not the high-end models like the Roborock S7, S8, and S9.
Revo is also a 2-in-1 cleaner that vacuums and mops simultaneously, so you get to save a few hundred bucks you’d have otherwise spent on a robot mop.
It can also handle all surfaces, including hard floors and carpets, and is unforgiving on pet hair and other pet messes such as kitty litter and urine stains.
This round ends in a draw as the two robots do more than just vacuuming; they can also mop hard floors quite effectively and with minimal water, especially on hardwood floors.
Under the hood, Narwal packs a powerful next-gen motor that puts up a whopping 3,000Pa when firing on all cylinders. This is high suction, but still, there’s room for improvement, considering we’ve got models that deliver up to 8,000Pa.
The good thing is that this is a variable-speed motor, so suction is adjustable, both manually and automatically (Carpet Boost). Worth mentioning is the Smart Swing, which is activated by the Corner-Traps, effectively pulling dirt and dust from deep corners, the wall edges, and baseboards.
While the suction might be average, I really recommend the Freo if you want a quiet operation, as the average noise is around 55dB in when vacuuming.
Roborock Q Revo uses the same vacuuming mechanism as the Freo, which consists of a powerful motor for generating the required suction to pick up dirt and debris.
However, this is a much more powerful motor that delivers an incredible 5,500Pa, translating into better mopping performance, with the only sacrifice being the rather loud operation noise. But this shouldn’t be much of a bummer, especially if you want thorough vacuuming.
There are 5 suction levels you can toggle manually and an automatic suction adjustment system that steps up suction automatically when carpets are detected.
One of the differences between Freo and Q Revo is the suction power. The Q Revo is more powerful, and this is evident from our exclusive vacuuming test results, especially on carpets. The Q Revo managed to pick up more dirt and dust, as seen below.
We’re glad the Narwal Freo can mop, but there are two sides to its mopping performance: a good side and a not-so-good part of the story. The mopping system consists of two circular microfiber pads that rotate at 180 RPM, exerting a 12N pressure on the mopping head for effective agitation.
The water tank is electric for efficiency and has 3 adjustable water flow levels. The Freo also tags along with several bells and whistles. First, you can add Narwal Cleaning Formula for sparkling clean floors, and interestingly, there’s a system that adds cleaning solution automatically for precision.
The mop can also lift to prevent the robot from wetting carpets, while the brush can lift in mop-only modes. There’s also Freo, a technology that enables the robot to detect and self-clean its mopping pads whenever necessary, so you won’t be finding streak marks all over.
All this is courtesy of DirtSense Technology. The icing on the cake is the auto mop washing function that cleans and rinses the mopping pads and Dual Warm Air Drying that ensures the pads dry in record time, preventing the buildup of bacteria and odor-causing molds.
For the record, the Freo’s base has a dirty, clean water reservoir that feeds the onboard tank and a dirty water tank that takes in the dirty water.
The Q Revo can also mop, not just vacuum, and in fact, it has a more reliable mopping system. Even though it uses dual scrubbers and not Sonic Mopping Technology like the high-end Roborocks, its performance was better than Narwal’s.
The system consists of an 80ml electric water tank, and even though there’s no cleaning solution tank or cleaning solution dispensation mechanism, the 3 precise water flow adjustments are a thing to smile about.
To scrub stains and embedded dirt, it also has 2 counter rotating mops spinning at 200 RPM while maintaining consistent pressure with the hard floor for effective mopping, so be it sticky dirt or stains and grime, the Q Revo is up to the task always.
You shouldn’t worry about the robot wetting carpets as Roborock engineered it with UltraSonic Carpet Detection and Mop Lifting.
Last on maintenance, the Q Revo will auto wash and auto dry the pads and self-refill the clean water tank so you won’t have to.
We're really glad the Freo and Q Revo come with the mopping function, so there's no need for a separate budget for a dedicated robot mop. But when it comes to cleaning performance, the Q Revo’s a step ahead as it cleaned all the dirt we threw on its way in fewer passes and more satisfactorily than Narwal. Below are our exclusive mopping test results.
The Narwal Freo comes with a LiDAR-based navigation system, so you can be sure that it will avoid common obstacles with precision.
There are advanced SLAM 3.0 LiDAR obstacle and drop detection sensors for this, and a retractable bumper to absorb impact just in case it bumps into walls or furniture. We tried it out in a high-traffic room, and we’re glad it detected headphones, shoes, USB cables, socks, and dozens of other common households.
It’s also worth noting that the Narwal Freo doesn’t have a camera or an AI-based obstacle avoidance mechanism, as it’s the case with the top-of-the-range models.
Roborock Q Revo doesn’t come with a camera like the Roborock S6 MaxV or S8 Pro, but the PreciSense LiDAR Navigation system does a great job of identifying obstacles and changing the robot’s cleaning route. In case of an accident, damage is prevented by the retractable bumper.
Even though we have no camera, we acknowledge Roborock’s effort to ensure the robot is precise in its movement by bringing on board Reactive Tech Obstacle Avoidance which leverages a high-tech AI system with 3D structured light to detect with precision over 40 items, including headphones, socks, cables, and even poop.
We tested It in a high-traffic room, and we’re glad it detects most obstacles with high accuracy.
From our tests, it was evident Roborock Q Revo has the edge when it comes to obstacle avoidance as it deploys a sophisticated obstacle detection and avoidance system that's based on AI and 3D Structured Lighting.
Narwal Freo is a smart mapping robot vacuum that creates hyper-accurate maps of your home in a flash and is suitable for homes with more than one level, as it can save up to 4 maps.
The robot cleans in methodical patterns, ensuring that every inch of your floor is touched.
For the record, the Freo has the ability to learn, map, and adapt to your home’s layout so it can differentiate the kitchen from the bedroom or living room.
To contain the robot, you can use the No-Go Zones feature by drawing boundaries on the app.
There isn’t much difference between the Narwal Freo and Roborock Q Revo in terms of mapping, as the Q Revo can also create and save up to 4 accurate 2D/3D maps of your home.
This means you can have a map of the basement, first floor, and even the attic. There’s also room recognition, so you can tell the robot to clean the kitchen only instead of the whole house.
Of course, there are other cleaning customization options on the app and boundary marking as well.
There isn't much to discuss here as both robot vacuums have a LiDAR-based mapping system that creates accurate maps of your home and has enough storage to save multiple maps.
Freo, comes with a filtration system responsible for keeping your atmosphere fresh and free from allergens, including dust and pollen.
However, this isn’t a HEPA-grade filter, but I can vouch for its efficiency, considering it captures 99% of allergens. It’s a washable filter, so maintenance costs are lower.
Roboock Q Revo is equipped with a washable E11-rated filter that filters down to 0.6 microns and has a 95% efficiency.
It captures all kinds of unwanted elements from the atmosphere.
Both vacuums come with a high-efficiency filtration system, and the filter is washable for easy maintenance.
The Freo comes with an extra large 480Ml bin that features a non-touch dumping design that allows it to be opened with just one finger, making and emptying a buzz.
Unfortunately, you have to empty the bin manually as there’s no automatic self-emptying.
One of the advantages of the Q Revo is that it’s a self-emptying robot vacuum. Besides the 0.35 L onboard bin, there’s a dustbag in the station and a vacuum mechanism that empties the onboard bin once the robot docks or as per your customization.
The dustbag has a 2.7L capacity, which is enough to hold dirt for up to 7 weeks.
The Freo has a larger onboard bin that’s easy to empty, but at the end of the day, the Q Revo's automatic self-emptying capability makes it the best bang for the buck. You can forget about bin emptying for up to 2 months.
Freo comes with a V-shaped bristle main brush for sweeping and agitating dirt. It picks up all kinds of dirt, from fine dust to large debris and pet hair, with minimal tangling.
It’s assisted by spinning brushes that reach the wall edges and deep corners where much of the dirt settles.
The Q Revo comes with a tangle-free brush that picks up all kinds of debris and pet hair. One thing we like about it is that it can pick up even the long, stubborn dog hair without jamming the brushroll.

Of course, when on carpets or after switching to high-power models manually, the runtime drops drastically, but it still packs enough juice to cover an average apartment on a single charge.
The good thing is that even if the battery is low, the robot will recharge automatically and resume cleaning thereafter.
Roborock packs a powerful 5,200mAh lithium-ion battery that offers up to 180 minutes of runtime in Quiet mode and slightly shorter when switched to high power modes, whether manually or automatic adjustment.
This is also an intelligent robot vacuum that recharges and resumes cleaning automatically.

The robot can be operated using the LCD on the base station or the mobile app via the Narwal Home app, which gives you literally all the robot’s controls.
You can also operate it remotely by syncing voice assistants such as Siri and Alexa, among others.
Q Revo works with 2.4GFHz WiFi only but can be operated using the Roborock Home app, which is available on Android and iOS. The app gives you access to all the controls.
