Deebot robotic vacuum cleaners are one of the leaders on the market because of the large number of models at different prices. Even budget models have vacuum and mop functions with large suction power and perform excellently on carpets and hard floors. Most of the models come with a base station that can not only charge the robot but also provide regular maintenance; the functionality varies with the model type. Deebot is produced by ECOVACS, which has headquarters in China and was founded in 1998. I have made a large number of reviews on Deebot vacuums, and all of them have unique features that prove the quality of these top-selling Brands.

Deebot N20 vs. N10 – Face-to-Face Comparison

My precise attention was always on Deebot’s top models – X1 and X2; I thought that budget models do not perform. Surprisingly, after my detailed comparison of Deebot N20 vs. N10, I can say that even budget models are worth considering. N20 and N10 are not the latest models from the Brand, but they have attractive prices.

Deebot N20 and N10 are standard round-shaped robotic vacuum cleaners with a LIDAR on top. The robot goes with a base station, which I will describe in another point of my article. For dry cleaning, it uses a main brush and one or two side brushes, while for wet cleaning – a washable mopping pad is installed on the special pad plate.

The N20 has a fully removable cover to access the dustbin, while the cover of the N10 cover is fixed and can only be lifted for the same purpose. The front of the robot is protected with an anti-collision bumper. Around the robot, many sensors are located for effective robot working and precise navigation.

For charging, the N20 uses the contacts, which are located on the opposite side of the bumper, while the N10 contacts are located on the bottom around the universal wheel. I consider these differences minor; the biggest difference is in the control buttons. The N20 has three buttons on top, while the N10 has only one (auto mode button).

There are no significant differences between the cleaning orientation of Deebot N20 and N10. They both can vacuum and mop at the same time and have additionally only vacuum mode for carpets. That means these cleaners can perform the whole home cleaning no matter on the floor surfaces.

The mopping is performed by one mopping pad, which is not vibrating or rotating like in more advanced models. During my tests, this mopping pad (the same principle on both robots) worked well on fresh stains but could hardly remove hard-to-remove ones.

In the smartphone app, you can set carpets as no-mop zones, but these robots automatically detect the carpets and prevent them from mopping (only vacuum mode is applied). The water reservoir is located in front; purified or softened water is recommended to prolong the service life of the reservoir.

The high suction power of Deebot N20 Plus 8000 Pa ensures perfect removal of dust and debris from all types of floors, while the performance of Deebot N10 is slightly worse because of the considerably less suction power. Both robots easily pick up dirt and debris from all types of floors and direct them to the suction port using the main and side brushes. In the smartphone app, you can set the required suction power and customize your cleaning routine.

There is no difference in navigation and mapping systems. Both robots create accurate maps and prevent crashing with obstacles using the LIDAR navigation system – laser on the top, sensors located around the robot, and vSLAM camera-based technology. Robots clean in neat rows, ensuring 2x coverage compared to budget models and 4x more precise obstacle detection.

The N20 promises to build the home map within 8 minutes first for further efficient cleaning. During each movement, the robot scans the rooms in a range of 8 m using laser beams to create real-time maps. Infrared sensors can detect obstacles in the range of 10 cm and stop in front of the cliffs with a height of more than 60 mm.

Carpet sensors have over 50 types of carpets to compare for detection. All these smart sensors protect the robots from collisions and help them avoid missing spots; in this regard, they are close to the top models.

Filtration

Antibacterial protectionYesYes
Washable filterYesYes

The filters of both robots are located in the dustbin and have the same construction, and both models are equipped with an antibacterial feature (a special antibacterial agent is added). Moreover, the filtration system of the N20 is a triple washable filter to trap fine particles, dust, pollen, unpleasant odors, and bacteria growth.

While the filtration system from the N10 has only two layers – the net and the high-efficiency filter. The filter itself is made from an activated carbon filter and plastic shell. To protect 99.9% from bacteria over time, you should maintain it properly and follow the replacement requirements. Please be aware that the filter for the N20 is not compatible with the N10 robot and vice versa.

I can say that in terms of brushes, the N20 is a significantly more advanced model. The main brush is designed according to zero tangle technology, and it has not only a rubber brush with plastic v-shaped anti-static bristles that grab the hair without tangling but also dual comb teeth to straighten the hair and direct it into a high-suction port.

As the N10 does not have such an advanced system, only the roller brush is made of solid rubber and soft bristles. Under cover of the N20 model is located the multi-functional for cleaning the internals and the brush roll in case of hair tangling. Nevertheless, the N10 model has two side brushes, while the N20 has only one.

The construction of the dust bin and water tank of these Deebots are similar but different in size and form. The dustbin and water tank are made from ABS.

Both water tanks are equipped with electronic pumps to allow the possibility of changing the water level for mopping. Both dustbins are extracted from the top using the dustbin handle, and there is a dust disposal port for the automatic emptying station of a base station. On the bottom of a water tank, the mopping pad is fixed.

Unfortunately, the base station is not the strong side of the Deebot N10 and N20. The base stations, in addition to the charging function, have only an automatic self-emptying function. The high suction power of the base station – Deebot N20 Plus – 26 kPa motor ensures excellent self-emptying features.

All dust is collected in a transparent plastic container. Inside the container, one main cyclone and 14 small cyclones are created to separate dust from airflow and maintain constant suction power without clogs. 95% of the dust is collected from the dustbin and transferred to the container; it can be stored for up to 45 days. This dust system includes a 4-stage filtration system.

The container presence is the biggest advantage, as you do not need to spend extra money on dust bags. While the N10 base station is equipped with antibacterial dust bags. For the N10, you can choose the schedule when you will empty the dustbin (5 modes – auto, every 20-35 minutes, or never). The dust bag of the N10 is made from 4 layers of high-quality materials to prevent leakages and odor spread for weeks. I prefer more functional base stations with refill and mopping pad washing and drying.

Even though the capacity of two batteries is the same, 5200 mAh, the Deebot N10, is a less smart robot, consumes it better, and has increased working time to cover more floor surfaces. It’s a pity that these batteries do not have a fast charging feature, so you need to wait 6.5 hours until the full charge. Nevertheless, the robots go to the charging station automatically in case of low battery power and further resume.

This part of the comparison is not showing many strong sides of the N10 and the N20. Both robots have only button, voice, and smartphone app control.

The N20 has more options for button control, while the N10 offers only limited functionality with one button – start/pause the auto mode and send it to the docking station. The N10 has an additional button to start a spot zone cleaning.

In the smartphone control, you may set schedules, edit maps, send for zone cleaning, or choose cleaning cycle parameters. But I have to say that even these options are enough for comfort when using these Deebots. The voice commands are only basic for these models.

Surprisingly, this table from Deebot N20 vs. N10 does not differ significantly from the top Deebot T30S models. These models miss only real-time video in general from Deebot, and like all Deebot models, they miss cleaning while away, cleaning suggestions, and other AI features to improve the cleaning.

I appreciate that you can always check the cleaning status, battery life, and cleaning time. The app also provides you with suggestions for maintenance.

he two robots' packages are standard and enough to start operation immediately. The only difference between them is that it is a multi-functional tool for cleaning the N10 robot. It is a pity that no additional dust bags or filters are included. I suggest purchasing a minimum maintenance package with the robot.

Setting up the robots

I like how Deebot robots come in the package; these N20 and N10 are not unique. The procedure to start the first cleaning cycle is as follows for both N20 and N10.

You need to remove all transport materials from the robot and base station and install the side brush. After that, you need to place the base station with a base place according to the instructions in the manual and connect it to the electricity.

While the robot is set in the station for charging, you need to connect it to an ECOVACS HOME app. During the first run, the robots make the home map. For mapping, the mopping pad should be removed. It is also recommended that all doors be opened, low-sitting furniture be raised, and all furniture be placed in its proper place during mapping. Near steps and stairs in the first run, it is better to place physical barriers.

After mapping, set boundaries and no-go / no-mop zones in sensitive areas. During regular cleaning, do not forget to fill the water tank.

Maintenance

I have collected all maintenance recommendations in a simple table. I insist on following them to keep your robots in proper order and at the highest efficiency. Unfortunately, as base stations do not offer hands-free maintenance, some manual work is required.

The detailed comparison of Deebot N20 and Deebot N10 has shown that these models are reliable basic models with all required features for effective cleaning and several control options. You can clean hard floors and carpets with both models, even though the Deebot N20 has shown better performance connected with a higher suction power.

Surprisingly, on sale, you can purchase a more advanced N20 Plus model cheaper than the N10. You will receive the anti-tangling brush, bagless self-empty station, and three-layer filtration system. The N10 offers longer cleaning time, two side brushes, and longer dust storage in the base station. So, your choice should be mainly based on the floor surface.
