For many years, vacuum cleaners have been the mandatory home appliances for homeowners of any size. They perform dry and wet hard floor and carpet cleaning. They are good for everyday and deep cleaning, depending on their suction power and cleaning abilities. You may purchase the model based on your home size, number of family members, presence of pets or babies, budget and level of autonomous work. On the market, you can purchase standard canister vacuums, upright, stick or robotic vacuum cleaners.

In this article, we review two stick vacuum cleaners. The comparison of Tineco Floor One S5 vs. Bissell Crosswave X7 presents the main technical characteristics that help to determine the most suitable for your home. Tineco and Bissell are among other top manufacturers of stick vacuums, such as Dyson, Tineco, Shark, Kenmore and LG. We start by listing the table of main characteristics.

Tineco Floor One S5 vs. Bissell Crosswave X7 – Face-to-Face Comparison

The details provided in the table are not enough to create a full picture of these models; we present a further, more detailed comparison of Tineco Floor One S5 vs. Bissell Crosswave X7.
1. Design and appearance
Upright

The Tineco Floor One S5 is a blue smart cordless upright vacuum and mop cleaner. The vacuum tube is adjustable to fit every house owner’s height.

The cleaner is user-friendly, with three push buttons on the ergonomic handle at the end of the tube, but for vacuum control, you need only two buttons during cleaning (Auto/Max Mode and Power On/Off). On the back, have a small, long, freshwater tank, where you can add a cap of the solution to boost your cleaning experience.

On the front side is a dirty water tank with a hair strainer and a filter. On the top of the dirty water tank and the motor is located an LED screen. The main brush has two wheels for turning in different directions.

Upright

The Bissell Crosswave X7 is a stick-upright cordless vacuum cleaner. It is made from black plastic with a purple tube. The control function is executed with mode and power buttons on the upper handle.

For tough messes, there is a spray trigger on the back of the handle. The clean-out cycle is located on the main motor near the dirty water tank. On the front is located the dirty water tank, and on the back is the clean water tank. Near the self-cleaning cycle button, many indicator pictograms are located on the digital display.

The brush roller also moves with two wheels. The brush is highlighted with LED lights to see dirt in dark areas, under and around furniture.

The Bissell Crosswave is a lightweight vacuum cleaner with LED lights on the brush roll, while the Tineco Floor One is significantly heavier and has no lights. Meanwhile, the Tineco has a more convenient handle and LED display. Nevertheless, the Bissell model is the winner in this round, as the weight is the most important feature of a manual vacuum.

2. Cleaning orientation
Vacuum & Mop

The Floor One S5 model can perform dry, wet cleaning on hard floors. It sweeps, mops and vacuums at the same time, but it doesn’t have a mode for dry cleaning of carpets.

It is recommended for usage on non-carpeted floors such as tiles, vinyl, sealed floors, laminate, wood, etc. There are two modes for hard floor cleaning – auto with automatic adjusting of all parameters and max mode.

Vacuum & Mop

The Bissell Crosswave X7 vacuum and wash at the same time. The cleaner is designed to clean not only hard floors but also is suitable for refreshing the area rugs.

Using the mode button, you may choose between area rug mode, hard floor mode and turbo pet mode. For tough messes, it has additional Turbo Pet mode with an extra boost.

The Bissell Crosswave X7 wins again in this round of comparison, Tineco Floor One S5 vs. Bissell Crosswave X7, as it has a mode for cleaning carpets, not only for hard floors.

3. Mopping performance
Yes

The Tineco Floor One S5 cleans the floor only with clean water. The water recovery rate is 90%. There are two mopping modes – water only and water + solution mode. There is a special Tineco Floor Cleaning solution for all hard floor types that can be bought separately.

Yes

With the Bissell Crosswave X7, you can control the mopping performance. If you push the trigger, the fresh water and solution (or only water) are released additionally on the brush.

The LED headlights can change color from white to blue to notify when you use additional water and solution. When you do not press the trigger, the cleaner works in vacuum mode and dries the floor faster.

For mopping, you may choose from six formulas for multiple surfaces, wood floors, area rugs, homes with pets, hard floors, and sensitive floors.

For increasing mopping performance, you may use the trigger on the Bissell Crosswave X7, which helps to clean faster the dirty sports without changing the overall mode and pressing buttons. Nevertheless, both cleaners have a maximum mode (max mode for Tineco and pet turbo for Bissell) with the highest suction and solution flows. We consider Bissell to be the winner in this round for more versatility.

4. Filtration
HEPA washed filter

The Tineco’s filter captures up to 99.97% of particles with sizes larger than 0.3 microns. Its size is 2.8 inches x 3.5 inches.

It consists of a pre-filter mesh (dry filter to capture large particles) and the main filter. The part number is S5-4P. It is not allowed to use the cleaner without the filter.

HEPA washed filter

The Bissell’s filter is made from high-quality materials. Its size is 4.05 x 2.1 x 9.56 inches. The model number is FF1754.

It also captures up to 99.97% of airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns and higher. It also has the pre-filter mesh for large particles and the main HEPA filter.

There is no difference in capturing and material quality of the two filters. The difference is only in size. There is no winner in this round.

5. Tools and Brushes
Main Brush Roller/ Cleaning Tool

The Tineco Floor One S5 is equipped with one soft brush roller with a plastic cover. The roller is made from high-quality nylon and microfiber. Its size is 9.4 inches x 2.26 inches.

During cleaning, it is rinsed constantly with fresh water to keep it clean throughout the whole cycle. The brush has a swivel steering wheel with a speed of 450 rpm, and the specially designed-scraper removes dirty water from the brush.

Moreover, the design of the main brush allows for cleaning stairs and baseboards up to 0.39 inches close.

Two brush rollers / Cleaning tool

In the standard package of the Bissell Crosswave X7 Pet Pro, two brush rollers are included – PET Multi-Surface and Wood floor – covered with a plastic window. The brushes are 2.25 x 9.5 inches.

The brush head has swivel steering. The Pet Multi-surface brush roll consists of a microfiber mop and nylon bristles to remove tough stains and pick up pet hair. The wood floor brush consists of soft-touch nylon microfibers for picking up debris from sealed floors and polishing them.

Additionally, you can purchase an area rug brush with large bristles, a multiple surface brush, a sensitive floor brush and a hard floor brush. All brushes are easily removed and replaced for cleaning with tap water. A cleaning tool can be used to remove the pet hair.

The Bissell Pet Pro wins this brushing competition, as you will have two brushes in the package for different surfaces.

6. Water Tank Features
CWT – 0.8 L/ DWT – 0.7 L

The Tineco Floor One S5 has dirty and water tanks. The dirty water and collected debris and dirt are scrubbed from the brush and sucked into the dirty water tank.

With centrifugal air drying, the water is effectively removed for easy maintenance and to prevent odor. The dirty water tank should be cleaned after the water level has reached the maximum level; a corresponding reminder will be shown on the LED display.

The clean water tank is 30% larger than in previous models of Tineco stick vacuums.

CWT – 0.55 L/ DWT – 0.45 L

The Bissell Crosswave X7 has a two-tank technology as well. All dirt is collected in the dirty water tank; for cleaning, only freshwater with or without a solution is used.

In the DWT, a strainer is located to capture all debris and for easier cleaning after the cycle. In the clean water tank, there is an indicator for the maximum level of water fill, and for formula fill, you need first to add water, then the solution.

If the DWT is full, a corresponding icon will be shown on the digital screen.

The Tineco Floor One is the winner, as it has larger water tanks.

7. Battery and runtime
4000 mAh/35 minutes

The Tineco Floor One S5 is equipped with a 4000 mAh Lion battery to work up to 35 minutes. In the Max mode, the battery lasts for 28 minutes.

The battery has to be charged for 4-5 hours to reach full capacity. The vacuum cleaner automatically optimizes the battery usage.

3000mAh/30 minutes

The Bissell Crosswave X7 is equipped with a 3000mAh Lion rechargeable battery. The maximum working life is 30 minutes; for recharging, it requires 4 hours.

Before first use, the battery should be fully charged (three white status lights on the digital screen).

The Tineco model is equipped with a larger battery for a longer cleaning cycle. So, it is the winner.

8. Base station
Self-cleaning & Charging

This Tineco model is a three-in-one docking station. During storage in the docking station, you can press the button on the cleaner handle that immediately starts the self-cleaning cycle, and all dirt, hair, and debris will flush out from the main brush.

The full self-cleaning cycle takes about two minutes. To start the cycle, the battery level on the cleaner should be not less than 10%, the DWT should be cleaned, and the level in the CWT should be higher than 40%.

Also, the docking station is used for storage of all vacuum accessories.

Self-cleaning & Charging

This Bissell has a three-in-one docking station as well. It charges the upright vacuum, stores the accessories and has a self-cleaning cycle.

In the cleaning cycle, it can delete debris, pet hair and dirt for three minutes. You need to clean the DWT before a self-cleaning cycle; in the CWT, the water should reach the Clean Out Refill line.

Do not forget to wipe the cleaning tray after the self-cleaning cycle.

There is no difference in functionality between the two docking stations; they can both charge the battery, clean the brush, and store the accessories. We can't call the winner in this part of the comparison Tineco Floor One S5 vs. Bissell Crosswave X7.

9. Automation and smart features
iLoop Smart Sensor / App Connectivity / Voice Assistant

The Floor One S5 has several features for smart cleaning – iLoop sensor, smartphone application and built-in voice assistant. The LED display in the Tineco model allows for control of the efficiency of a cleaning process. When the cleaner detects the dirt on the LED display, you can see a red cycle, which will change to blue during cleaning.

The sensor automatically adjusts the suction power, water floor and roller speed. In the app, you can check the cleaning performance in real time, while the voice assistant provides helpful advice for better performance. You can start a self-cleaning cycle from the app, control the voice assistant loud, and access the manuals.

On the LED display, you can read the following information as well: the battery level, WI-Fi indicator, alerts and current cleaning mode.

App Connectivity / Voice Assistant

The Bissell Crosswave has only a voice assistant and an app for checking the cleaning parameters. The Bissell App is basic; you receive information about the battery and filter life, and it has you a history of your cleanings and manuals; you can also start a cleaning cycle from there.

The vacuum cleaner is not equipped with smart sensors to adjust suction power and water levels for cleaning; the only smart thing is LED light indications (blue) when you push the trigger to add some water and solution to the brush.

For sure, all errors and alerts are displayed on the digital screen and are announced by a voice assistant.

The Tineco Floor is the favorite and the winner in the smart features. Its iLoop sensors automatically adjust all parameters and save battery life.

11. Maintenance

The manufacturer recommends cleaning and drying after each use of the dirty water tank, brush roller and brush roller cover. To clean the DWT and a brush roller, you may use a cleaning tool.

A spare brush roller is included in the package if you need to continue cleaning while the first brush has not dried yet. The external parts, such as the main body, tube, and LED screen, should be cleaned with a dry cloth.

The Tineco filter and the brush should be replaced every 120 days (4 months) for optimum performance.

Bissell recommends cleaning the dirty water tank with a filter after each use.

You can additionally clean the brush and its cover after the self-cleaning cycle. Do not forget to wipe the docking station with contacts and the cleaner’s body with a cloth at least once per week.

The Crosswave filter should be replaced every 3-6 months, depending on frequency usage, for optimum performance, while the brush should be replaced every 6 months.

The maintenance for the two models is the same; you need to clean all parts that can be dirty in the cleaning cycle and wipe others from time to time. Do not forget to replace the filter and brush as indicated in the manual. There is no winner in this round, as well.

Even though the Tineco Floor ONE S5 does not have a mode for carpet cleaning, it has shown better performance on bare floors on the first run. Bissell, only from the second and third run on the same spot, has shown a perfect result. But as it has a carpet mode, we call the Bissell Crosswave X7 Pet Pro a winner. If you use a Turbo mode, the cleaner performs significantly better on hard stains.
