Which one to choose EUFY G20 or EUFY G30?

4 reasons to Choose EUFY G30

  • Extended runtime: The 2600 mAh battery allows G30 to run for 100 minutes in Quiet mode and 40 minutes in Max mode.
  • Smart Navigation 2.0: EUFY G30 runs in Z-shaped paths for purposeful cleaning of all surfaces. Also, it is equipped with the Obstacle Detection System, dual gyroscopes, and drop-proof technology to detect dangerous spots and stairs.
  • Ultralight: This robot weighs only 5.29 lbs making it convenient to move on different levels at home or clean.
  • Cleaning map reports: In the smartphone application, you can check the areas where the robot has vacuumed and the cleaning time.

Short Description

This EUFY G20 vs. G30 comparison review will come in handy if you are torn between the two RoboVacs. Find out how they compare, and importantly which model is best for you.

EUFY G20 is among the latest models from the Chinese brand. It was released in February 2022 and has topped the charts as one of the best affordable robot vacuums. On the other hand, the EUFY G30 was released in 2020 and has remained one of the best robot vacuums in terms of value for money. So, what’s the difference between the two models?

Important

The EUFY RoboVac G20 (T2257) has higher suction and boundary marking technology but uses an old navigation system, so it gets stuck and hits obstacles often. It also can’t clean room by room. On the other hand, the EUFY RoboVac G30 (T2250) has an updated navigation system but doesn’t support boundary marking and has lesser suction.

For more details on how the two compare, read along.

EUFY G20 vs. G30 Comparison Review

To help you make the best purchase decision, we have compared the two robot vacuums based on the crucial factors considered when buying robot vacuums. So, without further ado, let's get into it.
1. Design, Dimensions and Weight
round-shaped

The EUFY RoboVac G20 is a round-shaped robot vacuum with a low-profile design. It measures 12.8 x 12.8 x 2.85 inches and weighs just 6.4 lbs. The low profile design allows it to go under low profile furniture such as coffee tables, cupboards, sofas, kickstands, etc.

It can also pass between tight spaces. In terms of aesthetics, the G20 is sleek and stylish and has been finished in glossy black with blue accents.

round-shaped

The RoboVac G30 also boasts a low-profile design to allow it to go under low-profile furniture and pass in between tight spaces. It also measures 12.8 x 12.8 x 2.85 inches and weighs just 5.29 lbs.

Regarding the aesthetics, the G30 has also been finished in black with blue accents. There is the EUFY logo at the top interface and a single control button, just like the G20.

It's hard to call a winner in this first round of this G20 vs. G30 comparison review. The two robot vacuums feature a low-profile design with the same dimensions and are sleek and stylish.

2. Cleaning Orientation
vacuum-only

The RoboVac G20 can only sweep and vacuum. It should not be confused with the RoboVac G20 Hybrid, a 2-in-1 robot vacuum that can vacuum and mop simultaneously.

When it comes to specialization, this robot vacuum is best for vacuuming all kinds of bare floors, from the fragile hardwood to the hard floors, including tile, linoleum, marble, vinyl, and the rest.

It’s also suitable for all types of carpets, talk of the thin carpets (low pile) and thick carpets (high pile). Homeowners with pets can also rely on the G20 to vacuum pet hair and other pet messes, including kitty litter.

vacuum-only

The RoboVac G30 is also a vacuum-only robot cleaner, so don’t expect it to mop floors. It should also not be confused with the RoboVac G30 Hybrid, which includes vacuum and mop functions.

Regarding specialization, this robot vacuum is also ideal for all types of bare floors, including hardwood, tile, linoleum, marble, you name it.

Regarding carpet vacuuming performance, the G30 is ideal for handling low-pile and medium-pile carpets only. It gets overwhelmed when vacuuming the thick carpets (high pile). But just like the G20, it handles all pet messes satisfactorily.

While the G20 and G30 vacuum bare floors and pet hair satisfactorily, the G20 has the upper hand as it vacuums high pile carpet more satisfactorily. That said, the G20 wins this round.

3. Suction Power
2500pa

The RoboVac G20 is among the most powerful robot vacuums we have tested so far.

It boasts a robust variable speed motor that puts up a whopping 2500pa when it is firing on all cylinders. For the record, there are four suction levels: Quiet (600Pa), Standard (900Pa), Turbo (1500Pa), and Max (2500Pa). Also worth mentioning is the BoostIQ feature that automatically switches to high power mode when carpets are detected.

Regarding operation noise, the G20 offers quiet operation at 55dB in Quiet mode and 68dB in Max mode.

2000Pa

RoboVac G30 also has a powerful motor that delivers 2000pa when Max mode is activated.

This is also a variable speed motor with four suction levels; Quiet (600Pa), Standard (900Pa), Turbo (1500Pa), and Max (2000Pa). The G30 also comes with BoostIQ technology, but 2nd Generation, which detects carpets and switches to Max mode in 1.5 seconds.

The operation noise in low power mode is also 55dB and 68dB in Max mode, so it won’t disturb the kids when they are asleep.

In this third round, the RoboVac G20 wins the battle as it comes with a much more powerful motor that steps up suction in Max mode to 2500Pa. For those with carpets, look no further; get the RoboVac G20.

4. Mopping Performance
No

The RoboVac G20, as mentioned earlier, doesn’t have a mopping function. It can only vacuum. For those looking for vacuuming and mopping from this series, the RoboVac G20 Hybrid will suffice.

No

RoboVac G30 also doesn’t have a mopping function. It can vacuum only. But there’s the G30 Hybrid which comes with a mopping function.

Here, there's no contest as both models lack the mopping function.

5. Navigation
Smart Dynamic Navigation

The EUFY G20 relies on Smart Dynamic Navigation to find its way around your home and avoid hitting obstacles such as furniture, walls, and doors.

This navigation system consists of a single gyro and 9 infrared sensors that detect obstacles so that the robot can stop and change its route. There is also a retractable bumper that retracts in the event the robot hits an obstacle.

Besides the infrared sensors for obstacle detection, there is Drop-Proof Technology that uses anti-drop sensors to prevent accidents on staircases.

Smart Dynamic Navigation 2.0

The EUFY G30, on the other hand, has Smart Dynamic Navigation 2.0, an improved version of Smart Dynamic Navigation 1.0. It adds dual gyroscopes and a Location Detection System.

Here again, there is a set of sensors that detect all kinds of obstacles and tell the robot when to stop and change the route. There is also a retractable bumper that absorbs impact.

To prevent accidents, Smart Dynamic Navigation 2.0 also comes with Drop-Proof Technology that consists of anti-drop sensors to detect dangerous spots where the robot may topple.

In terms of navigation, the RoboVac G30 is a better option as it comes with the advanced Smart Dynamic Navigation 2.0, which gets stuck less often. The EUFY G30 is the best bang for the buck if you have high-traffic rooms with many obstacles.

6. Mapping
No

The RoboVac G20 may not be the smartest robot vacuum around, but it cleans in a systematic pattern guaranteeing entire level cleaning. Unlike the old models that clean randomly, this one uses Smart Dynamic Navigation to divide the rooms into zones and cleans them one by one.

Unfortunately, the RoboVac G20 doesn’t support clean map reports, so there’s no way to view where the robot has reached and where it hasn’t.

But fortunately, it supports boundary marking courtesy of physical Boundary Strips, but none are included.

Yes

The RoboVac G30 is a smart robot vacuum that cleans intelligently in a systematic pattern, just like the G20. It also creates zones and cleans them one by one to ensure entire level cleaning.

However, courtesy of the much advanced Smart Dynamic Navigation 2.0, the RoboVac G30 cleaned more efficiently.

Interestingly, it comes with clean map reports that show users where the robot has vacuumed and, importantly, the cleaning time. However, there is no boundary marking.

As far as mapping is concerned, it's hard to call a winner. The RoboVac G20 may not have the advanced mapping system of the G30, but it is compatible with boundary marking (Boundary Strips). On the other hand, the G30 has a much more advanced mapping system, but it doesn't support boundary marking. For those looking for efficient cleaning, the G30 is the best option. On the other hand, homeowners who want to restrict their robot vacuum will be better off with the RoboVac G20.

7. Filtration
high performance unibody filter

The RoboVac G20, just like all other models from the Chinese brand, doesn’t come with true-HEPA filters. Instead, EUFY engineered it with a high-performance unibody filter that captures allergens such as pollen, dust mites, and other elements that can trigger allergies.

The filter can also capture elements that can cause bad odor. Even though they can capture 99% of allergens, these filters can only filter down to 0.6 microns, unlike true-HEPA filters that filter down to 0.3 microns.

high performance unibody filter

The RoboVac G30 is not different from the G20.

It also features a high performance unibody filter, just to be precise.

It can capture 99% of allergens and other elements that can trigger allergies or cause a foul odor in your home. The G30’s filter can also filter down to 0.6 microns.

This contest has no winner as the two robot vacuums have the same filter.

8. Tools and Brushes
two brush systems

The EUFY G20 comes with two brush systems. First is the single side sweeping brush that spins while directing dirt from the deep corners and wall edges to the path of the main brush.

There is also a motorized rolling main brush with spiral bristles. It is responsible for agitation and dirt.

two brush systems

EUFY G30 also comes with two brushes: a primary brush and a secondary brush. The secondary brush is a single spinning side brush responsible for sweeping dirt in the deep corners and wall edges.

There’s also a motorized main brush that agitates and lifts dirt.

The G20 and G30 have the same brush system, a single side sweeping brush, and a motorized main brushroll. That said, there is no winner in this round.

9. Dustbin Features
0.6L

The EUFY G20 comes with an onboard bin with a 0.6L capacity. For the record, the G20 can’t empty itself automatically, so it will have to be emptied manually.

0.6L

RoboVac G30 also has a 0.6L onboard bin with no special features, just like the G20. There’s no automatic emptying, so you will have to empty it automatically.

Here again, there is no winner as both robot vacuums come with the same 0.6L bin.

10. Battery and Runtime
2600mAh / 90 minutes

The RoboVac G20 comes with a lithium-ion battery with a 2600mAh capacity. On bare floors, the G20 can offer 90 minutes runtime in Quiet mode and 40 minutes in Max mode.

On carpets, the runtime is 70 minutes in Quiet mode, while in Max mode, when BoostIQ is activated, the runtime is 35 minutes. Regarding power management, the G20 is intelligent enough to dock and recharge automatically.

It will also resume cleaning without being prompted after the 5-6 hours recharge time. For the record, the G20’s battery needs to be charged before use.

2600mAh / 100 minutes

RoboVac G30 also comes with a lithium-ion battery with a 2600mAh capacity. It can run for 100 minutes in Quiet mode when vacuuming bare floors and 40 minutes in Max mode when BoostIQ 2nd Gen is active.

On carpets, the runtime is 75 minutes in Quiet mode and 40 minutes in Max mode when BoostIQ 2.0 is active.

Just like the RoboVac G20, the G30 has the ability of docking to recharge and resume cleaning without being prompted further. The G30’s battery should also be charged once out of the box.

In terms of battery and runtime, it's hard to call a winner now that their difference is negligible. They both tag along with a 2600mAh battery, but the G30 has a slight advantage as it has a slightly longer runtime. So to put the matter to rest, the G30 wins this round.

11. Automation and Smart Features
2.4GHz WiFi/EUFY Home App

The RoboVac G20 is a smart robot vacuum, so it’s ideal for smart home enthusiasts. It comes with two cleaning modes: Auto and Spot mode. Auto mode is for general cleaning, while Spot mode is for vacuuming areas where there is concentrated dirt.

In addition, this robot vacuum can be scheduled to clean at specific times. When it comes to smart features, the G20 is compatible with 2.4GHz WiFi and supports smartphone app operation. On the app, you can schedule cleaning, start a cleaning session, stop cleaning, adjust suction, etc.

This robot vacuum can also sync with voice assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant. What’s more? It has voice reminders that alert you on the status of the robot vacuum.

2.4GHz WiFi/EUFY Home App

RoboVac G30 is also a smart robot vacuum with two cleaning modes, Auto and Spot mode. The robot can also be programmed to clean daily for seven straight days, courtesy of the Schedule function.

The G30 is also a smart robot vacuum courtesy of 2.4 GHz compatibility. It allows for smartphone app operation via the EUFY Home App. On the app, you have total control at your fingertips to accomplish all your vacuuming tasks remotely.

One unique feature is the clean map reports that show you where the robot has cleaned, and the time it took. Just like the G20, this robot vacuum can also sync with Alexa and Google Assistant and also has voice reminders.

While both RoboVac G20 and G30 have the same automation and smart features, the G30 carries the day as it has an extra feature, reports. You can know where the robot vacuum has cleaned and where it hasn't.

13. Cleaning Tests

The RoboVac G20 performed exceptionally in our exclusive cleaning test results.

On bare floors, it managed to pick up all the dirt we threw on its way. It picked up both the fine and large debris in one pass, leaving the floor sparkling clean.

On carpets, the performance was also exceptional. The large debris was picked in a flash, but for the fine debris, there are a few patches left. All the same, it did a great job.

RoboVac G30 was also splendid on bare floors. It picked up all the dirt we threw on its way, from the fine dirt to the large debris.

The only difference was on carpets, where it struggled to pick up the fine debris.

It left more patches of flour, but for its price, it is a worthy robot vacuum for carpets.

As illustrated in the charts below, the RoboVac G20 was the winner in our cleaning tests. It vacuumed more dirt than the G30, courtesy of the higher suction.

Maintenance

Main Brush

To maintain the G20’s main brush, flip the vacuum and inspect whether or not the brushroll has any hair tangles or stuck-on dirt that can prevent it from agitating and picking up dirt effectively. If there are any tangles or dirt, clean thoroughly. Depending on usage, the main brush should be replaced in 8-12 months.

For the G30, you should also inspect the main brush to determine whether there are any tangles or dirt that can prevent the brush from functioning properly. Remove any tangles and dirt. The G30’s brush also requires replacement after 8-12 months, depending on the wear and tear.

Spinning Brush

Here again, flip the RoboVac G20 and make sure the side brush is spinning freely and is free from any tangles or dirt. If there are tangles, free it and make sure it’s spinning freely. The side brush needs to be replaced after 8-12 months, subject to wear and tear.

The G30’s brush should also be maintained the same way as the G20’s. Again, flip the robot vacuum and make sure the brush is spinning freely and is free from any tangles. Here again, you will need to replace the spinning brush after 8-12 months, depending on how it’s worn out.

Unibody Filter

To ensure the G20 is working optimally, the unibody filter should be cleaned at least once a fortnight. First, remove it from the dustbin, and tap it in the bin to get rid of excess dirt and dust. Then, rinse it using cold water and let it dry before putting it back. Depending on usage, the unibody filter needs to be replaced every 3-4 months.

The EUFY G30’s unibody filter also requires maintenance at least once every two weeks. Here again, the drill is the same. Pop out the filter from the dustbin, tap it in the trash can and rinse it using cold water. After it has dried, put it back. The replacement should be done in 3-4 months.

Dustbin

Now that the G20 is not an automatic self-emptying robot vacuum, you need to empty the bin manually. To empty the bin, press the release button, empty the contents, and wash the bin if necessary.

The G30’s bin maintenance is also the same. Press the release button, empty the contents and wash the bin when necessary.

Wheels

Flip the robot vacuum and check if the motorized and swivel wheels are spinning freely. Clear any tangles and dirt. Replace the wheel if they are broken.

The G30’s wheels should also be spinning freely. Lift the robot to check if they are spinning freely and replace any broken wheel.

Sensors

To ensure the robot navigates accurately, use a damp cloth to wipe the sensors.

The G30’s sensors should also be cleaned from time to time to ensure there is no obstruction.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is RoboVac a good brand?

While it may not be the best robot vacuum brand on the market, it’s one of the best robot vacuum brands from the Chinese frontier. It tags along with plenty of the coveted features and offers excellent value for money.

FAQ

2. Will the RoboVac G20 mop?

No. The EUFY RoboVac G20 doesn’t have a mopping function. It can only sweep and vacuum. For those looking for a robot vacuum that mops, the G20 Hybrid will be the best option. It tags along with all the G20’s features, plus the dry/wet mopping.

3. What’s the difference between RoboVac G30 vs. the G30 Hybrid?

The RoboVac G30 and G30 Hybrid share the same features, except that the G30 Hybrid is a 2-in-1 cleaner that vacuums and mops simultaneously, while the G30 vacuums only.

4. Does the RoboVac G30 have boundary marking?

No, the RoboVac G30 doesn’t have any boundary marking technology. Unlike the G20, it doesn’t work with Boundary Strips.

5. Is the RoboVac G20 a good robot vacuum?

Yes. The RoboVac G20 is a worthy robot vacuum considering its affordability. It boasts hard-hitting suction suitable for vacuuming carpets satisfactorily, has a long runtime, recharges and resumes cleaning automatically, supports boundary marking, and is smart home ready. The only problem is that it’s not ideal for vacuuming multiple rooms, room by room.

Summary

That’s the end of this EUFY G20 vs. G30 comparison review. As discussed above, both models have advantages and disadvantages.

The G20 is a new model with improved suction and better cleaning performance overall. It also supports boundary marking, a feature the G30 lacks. But it’s not ideal for homes with many rooms as it can’t clean room by room and has an inferior navigation and mapping system compared to the G30.

As for the G30, it’s an older model with plenty of features, including a smarter navigation and mapping system that makes it suitable for homes with high traffic and multiple rooms. But then, it lacks boundary marking features and is second to the G20 in terms of cleaning performance.

So, what’s the best choice?

Important

Well, it’s hard to call a winner. But from the experts’ opinion, go for the Robovac G20 if you want an affordable robot vacuum for carpets that supports boundary marking. However, if you have a large apartment with high traffic and many rooms, stick to the G30.

Hamilton

Why is the price for Eufy G30 higher than for Eufy G20?

Richard Harrison

Thank you for your interest in the EUFY G20 and G30 robot cleaners. G30 is a model with an advanced Smart Dynamic Navigation 2.0 System and Mapping System that ensures a more effective cleaning process. It is better for multiple rooms in large homes where G20 is not so good.

Lester Lynch

Where are Eufy robot vacuum cleaners produced?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for the question. Eufy is a brand owned by Anker Company. The Company produces vacuum cleaners in Changsha, Hunan, China.

Kerri

What additional accessories are recommended for Eufy (Robovac) cleaners? And why?

Richard Harrison

Kerry, thank you for the question. All brushes and filters for robotic cleaners are changeable items. Brushes should be changed every 8-12 months, filters – every 3-4 months. In the standard package of Eufy G20 & G30, only an additional filter is included. So, you can buy with the standard package a replacement kit of two filters and 2 side brushes, and the main brush, for proper cleaner maintenance during the first year.

Andy M.

I don’t quite understand what a unibody filter means. I thought that all cleaners have the same filters, I want to use filters from my previous stick cleaner. Please explain.

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for your interest in the EUFY G20 and G30 robot cleaners. It is specially designed for the EUFY filter. The unibody filter is a plastic frame with non-washable material folded in cobble. It has dimensions – 14.6 x 5.6 x 2.2 cm. The filter is installed in a plastic dustbin container in a special place.

Robin Jamison

I want my cleaner to do the whole cleaning cycle without my help. I previously had a Roomba I4 and put water in a dustbin, but it can’t mop. If I put water in a dustbin of Robovac G30, can it mop the floor at the same time as vacuuming?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for the question. Eufy (Robovac) G30 is not designed for mopping. It does not have a mopping pad and cannot distribute the water from the dustbin. Also, please keep in mind that a non-washable filter is located in a dustbin, you can spoil it.

Tyler

I want to have full guarantee that I can use the cleaner for many years and change the broken parts for free. Considering the fact that most of the Manufactures have limited warranties, can you please advise what limitations for Eufy cleaners are?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for the question. Eufy has a worry-free 12-month warranty without limitations. However, if you have a defect or problems with your cleaner, you need to contact technical support and provide proof of purchase. Eufy also has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Gregory H

I have five cats. Can I rely on Robovac G20 or G30 in total cleaning my carpets?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for the question. Robovac (Eufy) G20 and G30 have BoostIQ technology allowing automatically switching the suction power in maximum mode on carpets. With powerful suction of 2500 Pa, G20 can clean up to 96% of pet hair. While, with the powerful suction of 2000 Pa, G30 can clean up to 95% of pet hair. So, you can buy moth models for cleaning pet hair.

Randell

How can I understand that Eufy has cleaned all my flat? If the cleaner is on the charging base, has the cleaning cycle fully finished?

Richard Harrison

Thank you for the question. For Eufy G30, you can install a smartphone application and get full reports of the cleaning activity of your robot. Eufy G20 also has a smartphone application but without reports, only with scheduling and control functions.

Erin

Are there any differences in cleaning hard floors or carpets? I already have a Robovac cleaner, and now I want a carpet. Can I buy it? Should the cleaner have a special separate mode for it?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Thank you for the question. Robovac (Eufy) robot cleaners have BoostIQ technology allowing automatically switching the suction power to maximum mode on carpets. Also, both cleaners have a mode of auto and spot cleaning. For spot cleaning, suction power should be chosen manually between 4 modes – quiet, standard, turbo, or max; at auto mode, all settings will be automatically adjusted based on the surface type.

Tyrell Sloan

Thank you for the interesting description of these two cleaners. I have a G20 model and am thinking of an upgrade.I do not totally like the result of cleaning after several days. Do you think the G30 is a good upgrade?

Richard Harrison

Thank you for your interest in the EUFY G20 and G30 robot cleaners. The G20 is a newer model than the G30. Even though it does not have the latest navigation, mapping system, and smartphone application, it has more powerful suction, allowing a little better cleaning based on cleaning results. If you want a mopping function, you can purchase the G20 Hybrid version. Fresh on the market, RoboVac X8 models (Hybrid 2-in-1 and vacuum-only models) are presented.
