What’s the best carpet cleaner between Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet vs. Pet Pro? If you are torn between these two BISSELL carpet cleaners, you are at the right place. We have compared the two to determine the differences and, importantly, which one offers the best bang for the buck.
There’s no doubt Bissell is one of the best upright carpet cleaner brands. It manufactures high-quality carpet cleaners, with the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Series being the most popular. The ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet features several models, each with its specialty. This review compares the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner to the Bissell 1986 ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus. Find out which features they share and, importantly, which one has the edge. But before that, here is an overview of the two models.
Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet and Bissell 1986 ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus share a lot. However, as the name suggests, the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus has the edge. It has several extras, including CleanShot Pre-Treat, EZ Clean Brush Roll Cover, 3 Clean Modes, and better reach. These extras make it a better cleaner overall, but of course, at a higher price.

The ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus series is also suitable for cleaning all types of carpets. It offers the same performance as the ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet, but it’s more convenient. The variants in this series include models 1964, 1986, 19862, 19863, 1986R, 1986V, and 1986B. In this review, we have focused on the Bissell 1986.
Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet vs. Pet Pro Face-to-Face Comparison
Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet is an upright carpet cleaner best suited for all types of carpets and area rugs. It also has tools that come in handy when dealing with pet messes.
The Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro is not different. It is also an upright carpet cleaner designed for all types of carpets, including area rugs. As the name suggests, it’s also suitable for homes with pets, courtesy of several specialized tools.
There is no winner in this first round as both carpet cleaners are upright cleaners. They also clean all carpets and area rugs and come in handy when cleaning pet messes, including pet stains and pet hair.
The Bissell 1548 has a sleek and stylish design that resembles upright vacuums than traditional carpet cleaners, alongside two large wheels.
It measures 15 x 12.5 x 43.5 inches and weighs 17.5lbs.
Also worth mentioning are the ergonomic handling and the clever carry handle. The Bissell 1548 has been finished in black and samba orange.
The Bissell 1986 is similar to the 1548, with two large wheels for easy maneuverability. It also comes in a design that is more of an upright vacuum than carpet cleaners as we know them.
It also measures 15 x 12.5 x 43.5 inches and weighs 17.5lbs, just like the Bissell 1548. It also has ergonomic handling and a carry handle.
Regarding the finish, this model is sparkle silver with grapevine purple accents.
As far as design and aesthetics are concerned, it's hard to call a winner. Both models are the same except for the color, which is not an issue.
Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet is well endowed. It comes with a Pet Stain Tool with spray tips that reach the deep carpet fibers to eliminate the tough stains and elements that cause a foul odor.
There’s also a 3-inch Tough Stain Tool that scrubs embedded dirt and sucks the tough stains from carpets, upholstery, and stains. The Bissell 1548 also comes with BISSELL® PRO MAX Clean + Protect & Deep Clean + Antibacterial Formula and BISSELL Deep Clean + Antibacterial.
Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus also comes with a 3-inch Tough Stain Tool for scrubbing embedded and sticky dirt before sucking the stain-causing dirt on different surfaces, including carpets, area rugs, upholstery, stairs, you name it.
It also features a versatile 2-in-1 Pet Upholstery Tool that works in dry and wet modes removing pet hair, stains, and elements that cause bad odors. In addition, Bissell 1986 comes with Bissell PET PRO OXY Urine Eliminator and Bissell Pet Stain & Odor + ANTIBACTERIAL Carpet Formula.
Both cleaners are well endowed when it comes to accessories. But evidently, the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus is the better choice as it comes with a 2-in-1 Pet Upholstery Tool, which the ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet lacks.
The Bissell 1548 offers easy operation. It doesn’t require much assembly out of the box, so you should be ready to attack the stains in a matter of minutes. This cleaner works in both forward push and backward pull.
In addition, there are triggers that dispense the water and cleaning formula on demand. The handle is ergonomic with strategically placed controls for easy operation.
The Bissell 1986 offers the same usability. The assembly process is painless, and so is the operation. It also cleans in both forward push and backward pull.
Here again, triggers dispense the water and formula whenever necessary. The Pet Plus also comes with an ergonomic handle and strategically placed controls.
Regarding usability, it's a tie. Both models offer the same level of usability.
Under the cleaning head stretching to 11-inches, the Bissell ProHeat 1548 packs Dual DirtLifter® PowerBrushes with 12 rows of bristles that embed all kinds of stubborn dirt, leaving your carpet clean and stain-free.
Also worth mentioning is the low profile design that allows the cleaning head to go under low profile furniture so no spot will be left untouched.
The Bissell ProHeat 1986’s cleaning head is similar to that of 1548, but there are profound differences so stay tuned. The 1986’s cleaning head also stretches to 11-inches and packs the same 12-row Dual DirtLifter® PowerBrushes that scrub and agitate all dirt and eliminate stains satisfactorily.
One interesting feature is the EZ Clean Brush Roll Cover that can be detached easily to access the brush. While 1986 doesn’t have a low profile, the fact that the EZ Clean Brush Roll Cover can be detached also gives it a low profile.
While it's a close call, we feel the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro has the edge as it's easy to access the brushes during maintenance. But that's not to say it's very hard to access the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet's brushes.
Unfortunately, the Bissell 1548 does not come with the CleanShot Pretreater.
On the other hand, the Bissell 1986 comes with the Bissell Pretreater, so you can handle those tough stains with targeted cleaning formula.
If you are into bells and whistles, then the Bissell ProHeat Pet Pro Plus is the winner. But we don't find this feature something worth dying for because even those tough stains can be targeted without the CleanShop pretreater. Besides, you can target such spots from the bottle.
The Bissell 1548 averaged 6.3kpa.
The Bissell 1986 averaged 6.1kpa.
This again is a close call. Ideally, none of the two should have the edge here as they use the same components. However, from our findings, the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet is the better choice. But considering they performed the same in our cleaning tests, it's safe to say they are all-powerful.
The Bissell 1548 comes with a 1-gallon water tank that is easy to fill. At least with 3.785L (1 gallon), you can complete one or two rooms depending on the mode. As for the bin, we have a 0.8L bin.
The Bissell 1986 is just the same as 1548. It also has a 3.785L (1 gallon) water tank and a 0.8L bin.
Here, it's a draw as the two cleaners' water and dirt tanks have the same capacity.
The Bissell 1548 comes with two cleaning modes. First, there’s Express Mode for light cleaning. The drying time here is faster, around 30 minutes.
The other cleaning mode is Deep Clean mode which, as the name suggests, is for bigger messes that require intensive cleaning.
On the other hand, the Bissell 1996 comes with three cleaning modes. First is Express Mode for light messes.
There’s also Deep Clean for larger messes that require intensive cleaning. The additional mode is Max Mode which is a beast mode. This is for those tough and stubborn stains that won’t just go away in Express and Deep Clean mode.
The Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus is the best choice as it is more customizable. In the Max mode, it's unforgiving on stubborn stains.
Bissell 1548 uses Heatwave Technology® to ensure your carpet dries faster. It heats the water and ensures it maintains temperature throughout the cleaning process. In our test, it took just 30 minutes for the carpet to dry when using Express Mode.
There’s no difference in the Bissell 1986 as it also uses HeatWave Technology. Your carpet can dry in a record 30 minutes after cleaning the carpet in Express Mode.
This is another round that ends in a draw. Both the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet and Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus have HetWave Technology.
Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet has a 7 ft. hose and a 22ft power cord.
On the other hand, the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus comes with an 8 ft. hose and a 25ft power cord.
Here again, it's a close call as both cleaners have almost the same cord and hose length. However, the extra 1ft hose length and extra 3ft power cord make the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus the best choice.
Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet comes with a 3-year warranty. Bissell is a reputable brand that honors warranties as long as buyers abide by the warranty’s T & Cs.
Regarding aftersales, there are plenty of resources, including Bissell’s support channels. The replacement parts and supplies, such as cleaning formulas, are readily available at affordable prices.
On the other hand, Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Plus comes with a 5-year warranty.
When it comes to aftersales, there is no difference as both models come from the same brand.
The Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Plus Pro is the best choice as it has a longer warranty.

Hi! What water temperature is required for Bissell ProHeat model? Is it necessary to fill the tank with cold water and it’ll heat it or I should fill the tank with warm water?
Richard Harrison
Thank you very much for your question! Users fill the water tank with warm water and the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet keeps the initial temperature during the cleaning.
Rafael
How does the Pet Pro deal with hair on carpets? Is it somehow better than the ProHeat model?
Swartzcop Kennedy
Thank you very much for your question! Bissell Pet Pro is suitable for tile, laminate and carpeted floors. It copes great with low-pile carpets, picks up hair and doesn’t harm the pile. The Pet Pro version is a nice choice for pet owners because of the accessory kit, special solutions and easier roller cleaning.
