Can Roomba 692 and 694 fall off the stairs if they do not have a function of virtual walls? I fell down the stairs so many times with my Bissell cleaner, that it finally broke into pieces.

Richard Harrison

I appreciate your interest in Roomba robot cleaners. Roombas 692 and 694 have cliff detection sensors to prevent falling off the stairs.

Jack

Thanks for this article. It helped me select a 692. The price difference was $60 and a filter costs under $2. Given negligible feature differences the choice was obvious. To my surprise, my 692 came with a spare filter!

My bigger concern was the lack of mapping in the low end, iRobot models. So far, after several hours of use I am happy that I did not spring for a smarter Roomba. My 692 mumbles around bumping into stuff and moved it moving in a seemingly random manner, but given over an hour of battery time it manages to find all the dirt. A secondary issue is the self emptying function. I found the Roomba 692 incredibly easy to empty. It cleaned over 2000 ft.² before I emptied it the first time , it was packed, but emptied easily with no fair for us or mess

At under $200 I will save more than that in a few months by not paying someone to clean my condo nearly as often. I did get stuck a few times, but that was easily fixed. I love how it homes in on dirt and spend as much time as necessary to thoroughly clean the area my carpets and floors are noticeably cleaner.
