Design and Aesthetics

Roborock S7 Design

The S7 and S7+ are both similar. They come in a round shape design, are available in two color options (white and black), and have the same dimensions and weight. They measure 3.8-inches in height and have a 13.8-inch diameter. As for the weight, they are both 10.3617lbs.

The above dimensions are for the robot units only. However, the docking station is different. The S7’s docking station has a smaller footprint compared to that of the S7+.

Cleaning Performance

As far as cleaning performance is concerned, the S7 shares a lot in common with the S7+. However, there is a difference when it comes to maintenance and convenience.

Cleaning Orientation

Robot vacuums are highly specialized. The S7 and S7+ have been designed to offer simultaneous vacuuming and mopping. So, you don’t need to invest in a separate mop. Besides orientation, you need to find a model suited for bare floors, carpets, and pet messes. So, how do they compare?

Which is the Best Model for Bare Floors?

Regardless of the bare floor you have, be it tile, hardwood, laminate, or any other, these two Roborock vacuums will be suitable. The side sweeping brush and upgraded floating main rubber brushroll tackle all dirt effortlessly. Below is a chart that shows how they performed on bare floors.

Which is the Best Model for Carpets?

When it comes to carpets, suction power is the most important aspect. The two Roborocks are ideal for all types of carpets, courtesy of the powerful multi-speed motor that puts up a maximum of 2,500pa in Max mode. For the record, the duo has four power settings – Quiet, Balanced (the default setting), Turbo, and Max. Below are the carpet vacuuming results of the two robot vacuums.

Which is the Best Model for Pet Hair?

When it comes to pet hair, both models also offer the same cleaning performance. They can pick up all pet hair, be it the short stubborn Boston Terrier hair or the long Chihuahua hair that tends to tangle the brush. The two S7 series models will also pick up other pet messes, including skin flakes and kitty litter. Below are the results of our pet hair pickup tests.

Which Roborock is Best for Mopping?

The mopping performance of these two Roborock vacuums is also at par. They feature electronically controlled 300 ml water tanks and the revolutionary SonicMopping Technology that beats the scrubbing bar up to 3,000 times per minute, eliminating all stuck on dirt and stains.

Other features worth mentioning are intelligent mop lifting and ultrasonic carpet detection that prevents the robot from wetting carpets. Below are our exclusive mopping test results.

Filtration and Bin System – The Big Difference

One of the areas where the two Roborock vacuums are different is the filtration and bin system. They come with the same washable e11 filters that capture allergens and other elements that cause bad odor. The two also share the same onboard bin design and support automatic bin self-emptying.

Attention

However, the difference is that the Roborock S7 doesn’t come with the Automatic Bin Station, while the S7+ comes with it.

Navigation and Mapping

Navigation and Mapping Roborock S7

When it comes to navigation and mapping, the two are also similar. With PreciSense™ LiDAR Navigation and Precision Mapping, the robots can navigate around household furniture, avoiding obstacles and creating detailed maps of your home.

Also worth noting are Zone Clean Up, Automatic Room Recognition, Selective Room Cleaning, No-Go Zones, No-Mop Zones, and Real-Time Robot Location. All these features make the two ideal for multistorey homes with high traffic and many rooms.

Lastly, the S7 is a smart robot vacuum. It comes with 2.4GHz WiFi for smartphone app operation and Alexa connectivity. There’s also an inbuilt voice control function.

Hello! I have recently adopted an 8-week-old German Shepherd puppy. It is too young to go potty outside, so often, accidents happen. What will I expect from my Roborock S7 if it encounters my puppy’s poop or pee?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Hello! The question is a bit weird. You need to clean after your pup if it has had an accident. Unfortunately, this model cannot recognize and avoid pet waste. It will go right through it, get it all over, and spread it around. Its lasers are too high to detect it.
To be honest, my robot has never had this problem, even though I have a dog, and it may sometimes have accidents. Try to clean all mushy or fluid materials from the floor before you start your vacuum. Or you will have to clean your Roborock. The good news here is that the brush is made of rubber, and it is easy to clean it.

Hi! My kids are often so messy. They run about into the backyard and back, bringing in a lot of mud and debris on their boots. So, my hardwood floors are sometimes so dirty that I need to use something harsher than just water for cleaning. Can I add alcohol to the water tank to sanitize my floors better?

Richard Harrison

Hello! Thank you for your question. The instructions do not recommend anything but water in the reservoir. A harsh cleaner may damage the tank, they say. However, I also sometimes have pretty dirty floors in my house. So, I add 100% BONA hardwood floor cleaner, just a bit of it, and it works well. Nevertheless, I would not recommend alcohol. Apart from the tank, it can dry out rubber and plastic on all the parts of the vacuum. It will serve you longer if you don’t do experiments like that.

Hello! I have just bought a Roborock S7 Plus, but I am not sure that I do everything correctly. For example, can the device vacuum and mop my floors at the same time?

Richard Harrison

Hello! Thank you – this question is truly important. Yes, if you install a mopping system on it, the robot can vacuum and mop your floors at the same time. It vacuums before mopping, so it never vacuums wet floors. Remember that you cannot use a cleaner in its tank for mopping. And you will need to read the User Manual attentively to decide what you must be aware of before you start vacuuming and cleaning.

Alison

Hi there! I have a question about the mop lifting. My carpets and rugs are thicker and deeper than those in the advertising pictures. I am not sure that the mop will lift and do a good job. What do you think?

Swartzcop Kennedy

Hello! I absolutely believe yes. I have extremely thick hallway runners, and I was not sure how the Roborock S7 Plus would navigate them. They are made of wool and sisal and are deeper and thicker than any other rugs in my home. I only had to attach the corners and some points along the length to the floor with the removable rug tape.
The mop lifted on time, and the device vacuumed the rugs as expected. I just wanted to figure out if this Roborock S7 could navigate over such high thresholds, and it did! However, remember that the mop can only lift 5 mm higher than the base of the wheels is located, so if your carpet is more than 5 mm deep, the mop cloth will touch the top surface of the carpet and scratch or spoil it. Though, if your mop cloth is not dirty, you do not have anything to worry about.
