Shark S7000 vs. S7001 – Comparison review

These two Shark models have the exact dimensions of 13.7 x 6.75 x 46.5 inches and a similar weight of around 8 pounds. Such light weight, swivel steering, and long handle provide excellent maneuverability. Also, the Shark S7000 is pure water green, while S7001 is gold. As Shark S7000 is slightly lighter and this parameter is the most important for stick mops, this model is the winner in this part of the comparison.

Shark S7000 and S7001 have the same mopping, steaming, and scrubbing functionality. These mops perfectly remove stains using powerful steam. The rotating pads absorb the dirt while the steam kills bacteria and sanitizes the surface. No chemical solutions are required for cleaning, only distilled water. Unfortunately, the sticks clean only with steam; it is not possible to turn it off during scrubbing by pads. No difference in this parameter for the two mops.

Neither Shark S7000 nor Shark S7001 can dry vacuum. These cleaners perform only steam cleaning on hard floors.

Shark mops are designed to steam clean sealed hard floors (marble, tiles, stone, hardwood). Each stick has two rotating microfiber pads (150 RPM), removing even hard stains and sanitizing (removing up to 99.9% bacteria). The difference between Shark S7000 vs. S7001 is in a number of steam cleaning modes. Shark S7000 has a light mode for light cleanup and a normal mode for everyday use. Shark S7001 has an additional deep mode for complicated messes and stains. So, Shark S7001 is the winner, as it is more flexible in use.

Unfortunately, these Shark mops do not have telescopic handles or the possibility to transfer into hand-held mops.

Shark’s stick mops have only one mode button in the steam mop body, changing the pads rotation and the steam production. Light mode is ideal for laminate, hardwood, and vinyl (delicately cleaning and dusting). Normal and deep modes (for Shark S7001 only) are ideal for marble, tile, and stones (for large and heavy-traffic areas). To start mopping, you need to select the mode (the setting will be highlighted below the button) and tilt the handle to activate the pads. To finish cleaning, you need to press the mode button. There is no winner, as there is no difference in control functions.

The quality of Dirt Grip Soft Scrub Pads is the same for both units. Each stick has two rotating discs where two pads should be tightened and installed using plastic rings. They are easy to attach and made from microfiber locking dirt and moisture. The difference is only in quantity – 6 vs. 4 (S7000 vs. S7001). The pads should be washed with warm water and detergent and replaced after 3-4 months of normal use. Shark S7000 is the winner only because of quantity.

In the steam mop body is located a water tank. Shark S7000 has a larger tank – 410 ml, that prolongs cleaning time without refill. It is recommended to use distilled water to prolong the mop’s life. To refill the tank, a filling flask should be used. So, Shark S7000 is the winner.

These mops are powered by a standard cord 22 feet, which is enough to reach most remote areas. It connects the sticks with power. For regular operation, power is required with the following parameters: 120 V (voltage), 1120 watts (wattage), and 9.3 amps (amperage). There is no difference between Shark S7000 vs. S7001 in this part of the comparison.

Only S7001 has LED lights to illuminate hidden debris. At the same time, S7000 and S7001 are blocked and do not produce steam and rotate pads while in an upright position (upright block). That is why S7001 is the winner.

The warranty for Sharks steams is valid only for one year if you purchase from authorized retailers. The warranty covers normal household conditions and maintenance and ensures that the mops are free from defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty does not cover cleaning pads which should be replaced according to their normal service life. There is no winner in this parameter for Shark S7000 and S7001.

The package for each model includes the stick mop, washable pads, a cord, and a flask. The difference is only in the quantity of the pads. The increased quantity of pads makes S7000 the winner in this parameter.
