The Central Illinois Robotics Club was founded in May of 1997 in an effort to promote, educate, explore, and compete in the field of hobby robotics. The club is located in the greater Peoria area and meets monthly.

Hobby robotics is a growing field throughout the world. The introduction of smaller, more powerful, and lower cost micro processors have made robotics an affordable recreational activity. With this explosion in interest there have been several groups formed which are dedicated to helping others learn and enjoy hobby robotics. The Central Illinois Robot Club joins these groups throughout the world in the advancement of hobby robotics.

Education is held as one of the club's highest priorities. This will be fulfilled through communication and demonstration. Members may participate in open forum discussions, hands-on workshops, and demonstrations. Members will be encouraged to share their interests, experiences, knowledge, and works-in-progress with others.

Competitions are a form of demonstration in which members (and non-members) may participate. There will be several competitions held throughout the year. Members will be encouraged to work together to find creative solutions to club challenges. All over the country there are competitions held on an annual basis, and members will also be encouraged to enter and represent the club.

The Central Illinois Robotics Club holds monthly meetings generally on the 3rd Sunday of each month, except when the date falls on or near a holiday.
