The AIMEC:3 robot has 7 internal PIC microcontrollers and is linked to an external laptop via an bi-directional RF link. Sensors include thermal imaging, ultrasonics and IR rangers.
The next version AIMEC:4 is currently under progress, this has 2 internal micro PC's (Fit-PC2i) that control a network of 4 PIC's. One PC is for speech recognition (DNS10) and speech synthesis while the other is for face/object recognition and the A.I. core.

AIMEC stands for Artificially Intelligent Mechanical Electronic Companion.
The Arms are from a self build arm toy, but the mechanics have been improved. The new AIMEC:4 arms will use Dynamixel ex-106 and rx-64 servos that will give the robot some serious lifting ability!
