I was exploring the possibilities of voice recognizing robots in this project. This idea came to me when working (playing?) with my LEGO mindstorms kit and setting up communication between autonomous units (Achilles & Tortoise). It then hit me that it would be a heck of a lot more interesting to control these robots using voice commands.

I am a retired electrical mechanic. I decided to have a go at building a stair climbing bot. Have now been on this project for 1& a half years.
The mechanicals seem to be the main problem. If I cant get this to work I will go to a tracked system using Vex components.
Robots are pretty much a non event here in New Zealand though we are now geting some competition in the school level. I am also involed with Leggo first. It is great to see the way kids solve some bot problemss.
cheers folks. Kiwi
