RobotBox is a community for robot builders to show off their projects. Add yours today.
RobotBox is a community website for robot builders to show off their projects and inspire other people. So, what exactly does that mean?
"... community website ..."
It's a social world. Facebook, Twitter, and the Next Big Thing are all about sharing information online between people you know, or want to know. RobotBox aims to do the same thing, but it's for sharing stuff about robots with people who care about robots.
"... show off their projects ..."
We all like validation. We all like telling the world what cool things we're working on. The web is an awesome place to do that, but sometimes it's a bit disjointed. YouTube for videos, Flickr for images, blogs and forums for lengthy posts. I thought, "why not integrate them into a whole?" That's what RoboBox is for - it's to help you show the world the neat project you've built, including images, video and text.
"... inspire other people ... "
Most people don't suddenly decide to build a robot. They see a robot first and think, "wow! That's cool. Why can't I do that?" Building robots is about finding neat projects to get your ideas flowing. RobotBox is designed to help you find other cool projects to base yours on. What if there was a social graph for robots? What if you could see where people got their inspiration from? It would be cool. RobotBox lets you do that.
Think of it like ...
You can almost think of RobotBox like a cross between your personal portfolio and a social network. Gather all your projects in one place, and share them with the world. It'll be good for you, and good for other people!
So, why are you doing this?
I'm doing this because 1) I love robots 2) I want a tool like this and 3) I think there's a market for it. Robots is a big market, and I think it's gonna grow. Growth happens from the top, but also from the grassroots maker community like you and me. I want to be there to help. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, like Google AdSense, we can do this without charging you, the user. Yes, this is a business, but me making some money enables you to have a cool site!
So, now that RobotBox is finally here, we'd love your input! Let us know what you like, what you don't, and what you'd like to see added. You can drop us a line on Twitter or on our handy contact page.
