Two Birds, One Stone
Using the PCB as the chassis sounds like a neat concept. I'm curious to see how it works in practice. I guess you could also throw some right angle headers on there and make 90 degree connections to another PCB (wheel brackets, maybe?).
So you know how fr4 compares in price to aluminum? -

Android Controlled RC Car
I wrote the android App specifically for this project, but it was based on code I used in my Hexapod App.
Those balls appear to use an internal pendulum, in principle it wouldnt be too difficult to reproduce.

Hi Gallamine:
I guess you are talking about the PDA? No the PDA has it's own RF. I had to do a small hack on the KB since the PDA will turn itself off if the keyboard isn't being used. I just couldn't find any software way around it.
